No cure to allergic rhinitis but it can be controlled

Hey Chillyred,
Hi,chillyred:
Hi Felixbebe
I chanced upon this forum and read with great interest of your sharing of nose spa therapy. My kids encounter sensitive nose since young, thus I am keen to find out more about this treatment.
Understand from western doctor, frequent drinking or eating of hot drinks and food will hurt the throat thus might lead to cancer. With the frequent usage of this nose spa which requires steaming (temperature), does it hurt the nose eventually?
Also, is the medication used is HSA certified?
Sorry that if you happened to receive this mail more then once, as i don't seem to be able to submit my enquiry previously.
Hope to hear from you soon.
I'm a regular in kiasuparents and has been reading all posting in this topic
Since someone up there mention about HSA, I would like to say something.
Btw, i has been seeing felizbebe and lilytan keep answering questions post by others. Just curious, is both of you some how related to Herbal Basic TCM? Base on the way both of you reply is very profession and detailed. It really makes me ponder.
Both of you mention that Nose Spa is good and give them a thumb up. If is really that good, why don't they introduce it to Singapore PD and Singapore Hospital? As you know, Singapore government starts to accept and recognise TCM treatment. Like NUH, there is a TCM, SGH and TTS also have TCM. They should publicize it and introduce it to all Singaporean. Since more than 50% of Singaporean has allergic rhinitis problem.
Here comes the charges...I have a few friends visited Herbal Basic TCM. They told me that their charges is very high and in order to treat the allergy the physician suggest to them to take treatment package. And their package is thousand over $$. Also, without package, per treatment is also expensive. Further more the xiao er tui na is not done by the physician yet they still charge so high compare to other TCM.
For those who bring their kids to Herbal Basic TCM, don't you find it expensive?? And can they guarantee that after the whole treatment, the allergic will not occur? If they can't guarantee, isn't it the same as taking chinese herbs? And chinese herbs is not costly. I have two kids age 7 and 4. They have allergic rhinitis as well and theirs condition is under controlled. Further more they don't have to take the chinese herb everyday. Just when their nose feel itch and sneezing, i will give them the chinese herbs. Is so simple.
First of all, how dare you insult my integrity! The whole idea of this forum is to share with one another our experience, ideas and good tips on health care, I don’t think I deserve to be bad mouth by you.
Secondly, I doubt that you are really a regular in Kiasu parents as I’ve never seen any of your posting before, in fact you’ve just joined in on Nov 2 and made this one and only post 4 hours later. Also, if you are a regular, you should know that there has been at least 6 or more peoples giving good feedbacks on Herbal-Basic Clinic, not just me and “lilytan” alone like you said.
Let me clarify, I’m not related to Herbal Basic but I’m thankful to Dr Tan for curing my two kids and I like their service & attitude, therefore I don’t mind help to promote them whenever I can. You, on the other hand, made such a hostile post on them, it makes me wonder could it be you are their competitor trying to sabotage their business, or perhaps you had some conflicts with them before? Is that why you are here to vent your anger on them?! However, by the sound of your posting, it also seems that you may not have been there before, but just simply based on the hearsay from your friends. Your motive is indeed very suspicious….
Like many other parents, I was also quite skeptical about TCM in the past, until I was desperate as my two children were falling sick every other months and medications such as anti-biotic, zyrtec, singulair, etc etc didn’t seems to help much, that’s where I began to explore alternative treatments such as TCM. A friend of mine then introduced me to Herbal Basic Clinic, and within 3 months I saw a big improvement on their health condition. I was so impressed with it and that’s why I’m for this clinic, it’s that simple!!
After visiting the clinic for almost a year on regular basis, there’s no doubt that I have good knowledge on their treatments and have learned quite a bit about TCM. Plus I have picked up the interest to read more on TCM therapies and Chinese herbs, maybe that’s why you thought I sound “professional”, but you were wrong, I was probably just a little bit more knowledgeable in this aspect than you, that’s all.
Btw, may I know how do you define “expensive”? as this term is very subjective depending on one’s affordability. At Herbal Basic, they charge between $25 to $28 per session for xiao er tuina, and between $13 to $20 per session for the herbal nose spa, is that really so “expensive” like you said? Why are you trying to project the wrong impression that only high income group can afford to go there? To me and I’m sure many others too, such charges are considered reasonable by Singapore standard, well if that’s something you can’t afford, you are free to go elsewhere, but I don’t think it’s ethical for you to condemn them on no basis. I leave this to the readers of this forum to justify if your accusation was right!
Please read the post made by “Healthyy” on Sep 26, she said that she has completed the full 4 months treatment for rhinitis at Herbal Basic Clinic for a year now and there’s no relapse of her rhinitis. Isn’t that a very good testimonial to demonstrate the efficacy of the treatment? Btw, which western doctor or ENT specialist will guarantee you that there will be no relapse after their treatment (even though their fee can be 10 times higher)? If you know of any, please recommend to the readers of this forum.
Nevertheless, you mentioned that you have a good way to treat your children’s allergic rhinitis with “not costly” Chinese herbs, I believe this will be a great news to most desperate parents like what I once was, so please reveal the recipe to the readers of this forum and let everybody benefit from it! Since you also said that 50% of our population suffers from allergic rhinitis, so if your “not costly” and “simple” method really works, it will be of great help to our nation and I’m sure MOH will welcome your suggestion!
As matured adults, we welcome constructive ideas and suggestions, but please do not turn this forum into your personal place to vent your anger and worst still, a battle field for the readers.
Hi sassypink,
As you can see, I'm being accused by \"chillyred\" for being \"related to\" Herbal Basic Clinic, therefore I'm afraid it's not very convenient now for me to answer to your questions about the clinic, so I suggest you should contact the clinic yourself and ask them directly, I'm sure you will find a satisfactory answer.
Felizbebe
From my point of view, i am not really sure whether Chillyred is accusing you, looking at this parent's posting, he/she might just want to share her friends experienced at Herbal Basic TCM.
I will call Herbal Basic TCM for more information.
Thank you! -

Felizbebe,
I bet you must have taken a couple of hours to share your view.
This is quite a long and thought out reply, which I find it amazing that u take such great effort to rebut on my comment, which was simply a feedback from couple of friends who had apparently patronised Herbal Basic TCM.
This forum is meant to share experience and it is not a judgement of their service or capability. Neither is it a flatform to argue about ones opinion on a service one experienced. Surely there are other feedback, either good or bad. Regardless, it doesn't require such an over reaction from you, someone who is only a patron and perhaps have had a good experience at Herbal Basic TCM. I wish you well. -
Hi
I have been following kiasuparents and have picked up many valuable tips along the way. One of them was the recommendation of Herbal Basic.
I have tried numerous doctors and tcm. Even then i can’t say who is best or worst cos this doctor might be lousy to me but he still has his followers. Eg. Dr XX at XXXXXX clinic at Paragon. My son had hives but he said it got nothing to do with food allergies. Just prescribe me some medicine and made me doubt myself.
But his symptoms persisted and so i went to see another dr at the same clinic. Did prick test and confirm my son did indeed has food allergies! And one of them was quite serious.
What i want to say is every doctor has his followers and a few who don’t agree with them. I think it’s chemistry.
I have been to the one at Kembangan and boy was i pissed. My son who was only about a yr plus, swept her namecards on the table and she scolded me how could i let my son did that! Talk about being specialised in kids and yet no heart for them.
My son went to ENT professor at Camden. Last resort dr suggested was to drain his ears and insert tubes. He was supposed to go for CT scan but refused to cooperate.
I almost wanted to give in to operation until i chanced upon Herbal Basic here in this forum. I went and it has been almost a month. With regular nose spa and massage, he slept better and no more eye bags! Their service is also very good and toilet very clean! Very important!
I am going to do his hearing test again. The allergies had affected him so much that his ears were blocked. Dr at kkh diagnosed him to have OTM. That was a few months ago. Fluid build up behind his eardrums and he can’t hear clearly. His speech is affected.
With regular treatment at Herbal Basic, I hope my son will recover without operation.
To the one who said that just use cheap chinese herbs and they will be ok, please tell me more about it. Everyone here also wants to know. Who wants to spend $100 if $1 is sufficient? U are lucky that your kids are healthy and no need special medical attention. So of cos off the shelf medicine works for them. I wish my kids can too. Please try to understand parents who have kids who are unlike your kids. I have friends who laughed at me or gave negative remarks. It really hurts. So if you have better alternatives that you think will benefit others, then please tell us. -

I was merely reciprocating to your long and nasty writing, as I found it hard to understand your over-reaction to condemn the clinic, simply because your friends find it expensive or can’t afford it.
Anyway, I wish you and your friends well, and hope they have found themselves a cheaper and better TCM clinic. I shall look forward to you sharing your friends’ experience at the other clinic. -

I wonder one can just purchase the nose spa and do it at home?Do you know how much is the device and herbs? If one can do it at home will save the time travelling there .
Thanks -
For my experience at Herbal Basic TCM, it’s seems to be helping my son’s condition as his blood test result before the treatment shows that he has allergy but after 1 month the result has improved. Their fee is not the cheapest but neither the very high end considering am not from a rich family but a almost middle income group. Have been to a couple of western and TCM and his condition has not improve. Again I believe every child is different and their body react differently too so need to try then you’ll know. Praise the Lord is working so far.

Hi,
I have tried a chinese herbal formula called Biminne for my Rhinitis and it has improved alot for long term. This herbal formula has gone through scientific clinical trial and was proven effective. It is mentioned in reliable medical source and not hear say.
Scroll down and you will see Biminne. I bought it from Australia since it is formulated by a Professor from Sydney University.

I went to Herbal-Basic TCM Clinic at 727 Havelock Road to treat my nose problem. I'm quite satisfied with this TCM treatment, considering the treatment result & cost vs ENT's treatments. No regret, you should try!
