GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

Congrats! If he's been selected for GEP on his own efforts, he should be fine. All GEP centres teach the same syllabus, are tested on the same exams and all GEP teachers are specifically trained. So *in theory* there shouldn't be any difference between any of the centres. Choose a centre based on its distance from your home, whether you prefer an all-boys or co-ed school, HCL or not, religious considerations etc.

Thanks jtoh ! Nearest to my home is ACS but I heard that priority is given to current ACS boys who are selected for GEP,is that true ? My son is not from ACS.

Hi, my DS2 also got into GEP (DS1 just SMS me) but we really have a problem of transferring him to GEP school. We stay in Bt Panjang & I think Henry Park is the nearest unless we put him at Nan Hua since DS1 will be joining NUSHS next year .... Is Nan Hua near NUSHS ? Anyone got kid at Nan Hua GEP ? Good ? My DS2 belongs to the 'lazy' type, dun know if he can make it through .... my DH said better dun let me go ...

Both HP and NH are close to NUSH, but NH is closer i think

Will you be driving ur sons? Then probably Nan Hua makes a better sense . Why dont you do a test drive and check?

Also Check out about bus after CCA/ enrichment / supp classes after school hours especially if you are not going to pickup. Or will your DS be able to take the public bus? if so check if there are direct bus to near your residence .

Also look at the timings , NUSH need to be in latest by 7:45 , henry park by 7:15 dunno about NH. BTW, HP will be at holding site on Mt.Sinai road from Jan 12 to Jun 13. After that it will be single session , so the start time may change.

Thank you very much. Lucky you tell me HP going to shift soon. Ya, we really have a problem if DS2 needs to stay back, no one can oick him up and he's still very young, haven't had his 9th birthday yet ... year end boy, so we are worried about letting him go a school so far away ...

I think most boys are the lazy type, hahaha.

You have the best option, DS1 at NUSH, DS2 should be at Nan Hua, the two campus are so near to each other.( see below )

Strparent, that is Nan hua Secondary. (The two schools face each other )
I think primary around Clementi fire station.

Don't worry, MOE will definitely try to accomodate you, as they hope that all the selected children will accept the GEP. Besides, they will have 2-3 classes per GEP designated school, and I doubt ACS itself has 50 boys selected.

Someone told us the same thing a few years ago, so what we did was even though we were told to choose a few in terms of priority, we only chose ONE ( most convenient location ).
