However in P5 and P6, there is usually not much time to check unless your child is a fast in doing his work.

Not that she didn't do well in Maths, but of all the marks she lost, 5 was through carelessness. :stupid:

same here, the word was right in front of ds and yet he can still spelt it wrong :faint: deduct 1/2 mark...............and it happened a few times. :slapshead:

For ds2, I have already warned him before the exam that he has to be focus and not day dream in between questions during the exam. For the trial Maths paper, he did not have the time to finish his Maths paper. So I set very clear time frame for him in SA2 for each sections of the Maths Paper. Luckily in SA2, he could finish, check his work and did quite well too. 😄

That happened to my DD a few times too!

Luckily they were made during the pre-SA2 practice papers. 😓

              :thankyou: LKVM! 😄

Didn't think the stomach flu affected her results much, even though
she had to go to the bathroom in the middle of her English paper. :imconstipated:

The figures given in the question were 186 and 29. But she ended up adding 189 and 29! :slapshead:

Furthermore, she told us she checked through the paper 3 times!
BigD..I know what you mean.. I also can vomit blood just looking at all the careless mistakes.. :slapshead:

See if this will help your DD. For us, checking involves working backwards. So after getting 186 + 29 = 215. For checking, DD will do 215 - 29 = 186. If she doesn't get 186 then she'll know something is wrong...

oh, and i always make her circle the keywords (eg. more than, share..)and numbers.. it helped to eliminate all her mistakes in Section B and C. Now we gotta work on Section A that is after I get to see her SR2 paper..

                Hope this helps..

                  insider:

Anyway, he will outgrow and be more careful when he matures further (again, my strong belief and therefore I can close one eye on young kids' carelessness and take it as part and parcel of cognitive development. I shared before, if it's due to cognitive maturity reasons, then a parent may talk until cow comes home but child still remains about the same and so better save your breath not to harp too much in this area.)

😄 , when we went thru his papers and pointed out his carelessness, it was 大眼瞪小眼,小眼赢了。 😉

cant stand this cheeky monkey at times. 😉

Just saw DD's result last night.

                      Chinese - :boogie: 🕺
                      English - 😄 :imcool:
                      Maths - :gloomy:

Before SA2 even started, I reminded her over and over again to be EXTRA careful with questions that come in 2 parts, especially when answer of part 2 is dependent on answer of part 1, and well....Murphy's Law.

The figures given in the question were 186 and 29. But she ended up adding 189 and 29! :slapshead:

Furthermore, she told us she checked through the paper 3 times!

She was lucky the teacher was kind enough to deduct only 2 out of the 4 marks! 😓
Sooo BRAder... :skeptical: ... bottom line is consider you satisfied anot with her results? (As per thread title) 😉

Before the papers can be brought home, my ds said that i’ll surely will turned into an ‘angry bird’ when i see his paper. I asked why? He then replied careless mistakes… W/o lookings at the papers, i know must be 1) ‘arrange from smallest to biggest’ kind of qn. 2) transfer of numbers wrongly like abv.

True enuf, for the two last problem sums bcos of careless mistakes like eg 2), the answers were wrong! Luckily, he drew models, so he still got two marks each! Otherwise, w/o the models, 8 marks will fly away cos of careless mistakes!!!
