Day-off(s), compensation in lieu of day-off(s), English language entry test, employer's responsibility for maid's day-off(s) even though they (MOM) mandates it etc anything that don't affect their bottomline and not relating to them but yours

Ex-Dubai Filipino maid with 3 years experience (1st time in SG), asking for $450 with one day off - is that reasonable?

          Thanks

I think it's reasonable considering the starting salary of new FILO maid now is between $400 - $450. You don't want your experienced maid's salary to be less than that of the new maid in the neighbourhood, right?

Eh? Since When were we allow to negotiate salary when we get maids from agent? It’s the agent here and the agent in indonesia that decide on the salary. If one day they increase the salary to $600 for new maid, there is nothing we can do about it.

If the maid's starting salary reaches $600 then it'll be the same as HK. You'll get an experienced maid then.

                  😆

We are paying more than $600 liao. :rahrah:

                    $450 + $170 levy (subsidise) = $620

                    $450 + $265 levy (w/o subsidise) = $715

I hired an experienced maid (4 years experience in SG & 2 years in HK) in Aug 2011 and I am paying her $440 with no off days. After her loan is paid up, she requested for 1 off day & I will pay her $420. So far quite happy with her performance since she’s a good cook & help me take care of my 5 mth old boy but still keeping fingers crossed since she’s just here for not more than 3 months.

I guess we must really look around cos I went to so many agencies in July and finally got this maid at this salary. If you go to those huge & popular agencies, they will tell u all experienced Filipino maids’ salary are between $450-$550. Tsk tsk…
