GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

PiggyLalala:
Hi everyone, I notice quite a number of parents asking this questions \"can my kid cope?\" I am just wondering whether anyone can help me define what is the meaning of this question? When someone ask me, I am not sure how to answer? :siao: TIA.Hi Jtoh,
Thank you for yr sharing. ds2 is a pleasant boy who is rather shy and not very articulate. He is also not very inquisitive. So to me, it seemed like he does not have the common traits of a gep student. I'm sure he has the correct attitude but still I'm worried as to whether he can cope. He is very happy in the mainstream, stressfree and swimming happily in the pond. Hopefully when he is put in the new deep pool, he can still swim and keep his pleasant nature. Having said all that, I would say that ds2 is quite an independent worker. He could be a late developer. Hopefully, his brain is still growing and he gets better and better each year.

If not for this GEP selection, I will never know where NYPS is located, that's how sotong I am, hehe. I have to recce the place because my DD will be taking public transport.
Wah, so hardworking, so not 'sotong' afterall, keke... may I know why your dd doesn't like HPPS. I thought they have a very big nice library?comfy:
Went to recce NYPS and check out travelling and walking time by public transport. Quite a fair bit of walking from Farrer MRT station I must say. And if bad weather confirm will be drench.
NHPS and HPPS easier route from where I am located. DD dont like HPPS so we are down to NHPS or NYPS. Will decide after Sat's briefing........
Her impression of HPPS students not so good based on her observation during the GEP test at NHPS, where she get to see students from other schools. Now sure exactly what is it but she says she dont want to go HPPS.
HaHa.... your dd sounds like my dd, she said the same thing went she went to NH for her GEP selection test. Her reason : teacher very fierce, so not good for learning, LOL! I even persuade her to go for the Openhouse for parents. Her opinion improved but still said \"Not 1st choice mummy\".
You are not considering school bus for your dd? -

This is not the proper way of choosng a school. I personally don't like their uniform, mak the kids looked \"brown\". If the kid is fair, still ok but if the kid is tan, cannot see the face becos blend into the uniform colour. Don't scold me. :siam:

I know some students spend 2 to 3 hrs daily commuting which can be very straining on the kids.
