How about top schools' P6 papers, including prelims? Thanks.
Every year I get them through phone order and they deliver it to my house. I pay them upon delivery.[/quote]
Thanks.

ASLMUM:
Hi ASLMum,Hi fellow comrades,
Any suggestions on how to improve Chinese? I think due to poor foundation, my DD is issues recognising the chinese characters and their meanings. Stress!
Learning the 生字表 helps...esp 识写字.
辨字测验 is also another area you can help your daughter with. My son's biggest prob area is 短文填空 and comprehension. The recent SA2 passage were real killers esp the 2nd one. -
Flowermonaster:
Dear germum, suggest that you identify your DD strong & weak subjects, then when papers r back, find out what she did wrong especially in her strong subjects - is it due to carelessness or really don't know. Identify the topic/s she is weak in & give her coaching on those topics. As for weaker subjects, do build up her foundation during this school holidays. Good Foundation must be there in order to proceed further.
Dear Flowermonaster, thanks..
just cannot understand y her results n what she had done at home dif so much... i think mindset is another issue that i need to deal with...
how huh? can anyone enlighten me? -
Has anyone been to Yu Quan language school? Any feedback on the Chinese Idioms course where they claim can help the child with chinese character recognition. My concern is that my DD does not understand the meaning of the characters and hence does not know how to apply in the exams…

I did not focus on the chinese idioms at all during my ds1 PSLE.They will not be tested in Paper 2. AT most can only use in Paper 1. So to me it is not so important.

Chinese idioms not needed for Paper 2.
Perhaps for CL compo/oral if the student can use some idioms appropriately...then can score marks. -
Hi All,
My DS will be sitting for PSLE in 2012 too…
We’ve started last week on his weaker topics on math…we don’t have tuition except for chinese and i’m worried that i may not know all the answers to his questions…too late to get a tutor now… and i’m not sure tuition centres are any good…any advice? -

Tho I do hope the kids will learn some proverbs/idioms etc to help score in exam, personally I prefer them to learn more and just simply appreciate them. Some of them are actually very very interesting. I have some collections since years back but mainly they are words only, so quite difficult to attract kids and people who have no interest, unlike the current versions with lotsa illustrations.PiggyLalala:

Similarly, when I try to teach some Chinese to my kids, I have never really bothered about syllabus....as long as it's age appropriate, no harm learning right? Let's hope I'm not using the wrong method

It's not wrong to teach kids more about Chinese...it's a language and Mother tongue. So they should learn more about it and not bcos of passing exams.PiggyLalala:

Chinese is a very interesting subject and when I read his Oral reference, I do point out to my boy.
Chinese is made more interesting now with those cartoon-like books to explain how idioms come about.
