Hi parents… my girl will be in P1 next year… just wondering how much pocket money should I give her?

I am thinking $1.50… is it enough or too much?
      TIA.

          Hi Sky71,
I think its up to individual, and have to depends on whether your DD is small eater or big eater.

I gave DS $1.20 in P1, and now he's in P3 this year, I gave him $1.80 to $2 per day. To him, its more than enough. 🙂

Hi silverhorse... thanks for the heads-up... my DD is a fussy eater 😓
In this case I think $1.50 should be OK for her :xedfingers:
            Thanks again!

I think $1.50 for p1 is enough as there is only 1 recess.

When you are in the school, do take a look at the prices of food in the canteen to have a feel how much to give.
Also, it is the time to cultivate the good habit of saving for rainy days.
My p6 dd has only $1.80 per day. She eats bread during recess, takes her lunch in school and still have some leftover provided not buying drinks & other tit-bits etc.

FYI, In Pri 1, DS spent his money on bookshop purchase ( all the nonsense stuffs la), in P2, he wised up. In P3, he managed better cos there are 2 breaks ( recess n lunch)...

LOL... I am sure my DD will go through this learning curve too :moneyflies: Nevertheless, will monitor her spending closely... thanks a lot!

Hi starlight1968sg... Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately the tuckshop was closed during DD's orientation so unable to check out the prices of the food there.
Probably will drop by to check it out these 2 days before the school closed.
                    Thanks a lot. 🕺

Maybe you can go to the school, perhaps tell the security guard that you want to go to the bookstore or something... then scan at the prices of food at the canteen.
Are you preparing bread for your dd who will be p1? If so, you can even reduce the pocket money because she is most likely ended up buying drinks, pencils, erasers, stickers etc. Just let her be for a short while as this is part of the growing up process.
(During the recess, the kids will crowd at the bookshop to look-see, buy things...)
If this gets out of control ie continue to spend $$ on stickers, then you may have to exercise some control...
