During Orientation day, it will not be at that place with the small stall. It will be held in a level 1 class room with more staffs serving to handle larger crowds. The books will also be sold in box (according to booklist) next door. But it's still better to buy early as it can be chaotic that day. You will know what I meant when you see it.i have went down to buy my girl's uniform. Wow have spent 45 minutes cos have to try on a few sizes due to uniform either too big or too small. the lady told me that they will be opened on orientation day and in dec (27th, 28th and 29th Dec). No other day already once school holidays start. Actually i am quite surprised to see the stall is so small. First thought comes to mind is wow pasar malam stall. Cannot imagine orientation day so many parents queue up to buy. The lady told me orientation day always long queue and very slow cos some parents very fussy but she said a lot of parents have bought the uniforms already
by the way i got the letter liao. Any other mummies got the letter? -

i just read the letter in details and saw that the books my girl has to bring one her first day of class.i just realised for chinese they indicate higher chinese language for primary 1 and i dun see any books for normal chinese. strange -

For P1 & P2, NCPS only uses higher chinese, no normal chinese. I am not sure for upper pri though. When the good ones are told to pursue higher chinese, the rest go back to normal chinese?

I have received the letter from NCPS. This year no testing of the children as according to the admin staff. The class listed on the letter is the confirmed class next year 2012. I find it not fair , as I some how knew how it was being arranged to which class your DS or DD is suppose or not suppose to be... some how is very \"Confidential\"
Anyway, a lot of parents don't like the ideal of the child being tested. But from the point of my view, I find that tests conducted in the school during orientation is much fairer for our kids to arrange which class to go to in primary 1, is much more fairer then this way....
Also, In Primary 2 , if your child results are good especially in chinese, normally will go to class A or B for higher chinese. What I understand they have a lot of Chinese assignment to do ... -

No form given yet but teachers hv been scouting e kids in DS1's class to try out for basketball & choir for next yr but not every1 accepted the offer. Not sure abt other CCAs.Hi parents,
Any one can advise me when will the P2 kids (this year) be asked to sign up for their CCAs for next year? Is it starting next year or they have to fill in the application form (?) this year? -

DS1 went thru the so-call tests during orientation but didn't even manage to finish the word search which he only started to enjoy 2 years later.

Even tho his class was confirmed only after that, I still find a wide spectrum of abilities in it. Eg. P2 SA2 Maths w friends scoring from 61 to 100. So those orientation tests only help to recommend the extra paid enrichments to kids that need to level up to P1 during sch hol?
Separately, the sch arranged for free remedial classes for some of the weaker P1 kids after Feb. Some teachers even ask some P2 kids to reach sch an hr earlier for 1-to-1 coaching. :salute: -
