Lol. I selected a GEP non-SAP school closest to my home at Toa Payoh but they said they will give place to affiliated schools, mission schools and then \"others\". Felt v slighted at their booth by the teacher we spoke to. Almost wanted to change the order of choice on our DS's form but we respect his decision.

As aforementioned, we are also Protestant Christians with Methodist background and my Dad is an ACS old boy (I am his only child and a girl). DS is from his school's elite chess team.

So my question is- how would MOE consider placement of the child in such a scenario? Is it MOE or the school that has the final say?
hi, if you are looking at ACPS, I have a friend who is a mom with a son at ACJS and she told me a total of 93 ACS boys sat for GEP round 2 and 17 from ACJS got in and less than 10 from ACPS....hope this helps...also FYI all kids taking schoolbus to ACPS must reach school by 6:50 am, so for my DS even tho we are within 2 km to the school, if we choose ACS and take schoolbus the pick up time is 6 to 6;15 am, just FYI too šŸ™‚

Nan Hua ( (NH) intends to open up 2 GEP classes for 2012. Since each class takes in 25 pupils, so 2 classes max. is 50 pupils.

this year, Nan Hua own P3 cohort has 5 GEP kids. Assuming if these 5 take up NH offer not try to seek transfer to NYPS (for example), that means remaining still have .... 45 seats left, for pupils from other schools who are keen to transfer in.

at the entrance of NH school gate - you can see the design of the school's architecture building, in the form of a scholar's hat.
Just curious, where did you get the info nan hua has only five p3 students taken in by gep?

                Hi all,

My son managed to qualify for GEP and now we have a tough decision on which school to choose.

Nanyang is one of the nearest to our house but heard it is quite competitive. Also with so many GEP kids, harder for your child to stand out and shine.

Does anyone have any experience with Nanyang GEP ?

Other choices are Rosyth, which is much further from our house, but looks to have very interesting CCAs, and ACS, but slots are limited.

if 'giftedness' is naturally and not by training, then why shd anyone be surprised? :?

Yes, if all conditions remain the same as before, why results can't keep consistent. Or do u mean the only changed condition is trained before but no training any more in nan hua?
How are pupils posted to the schools in the GEP?

In the primary GEP, if the pupil is from a school that offers the programme, then the pupil could choose to remain in the school. A pupil would be posted to a school of his/her choice as long as there is a vacancy. If there are more applicants than vacancies, other criteria would apply. A pupil applying for a SAP school would be given preference if he/she comes from a SAP school. Likewise for a pupil applying for a single-sex school if he/she comes from a single-sex school. All else being equal, distance of school from home is an important factor.
It was discussed before, they will try to match the new school with the previous school like what they stated above. They prob have a checklist and see if u 'scored' enough to get to the school of your choice.
So chance shd be higher if my child is fr SAP sch and stated that he wld like to go to another SAP?

I was told 20 from ACSJ so with ACSP maybe most the places would be taken up by them.

I checked with the teacher at the booth on sat, they have about 20 from the 2 schs. So should have 1 more class for others if none of their boys left to join others. šŸ™‚

There are only 2 GEP classes in ACS, so if the affiliated students take up 40 places, there would only be about 10 places left for other students.
At least I know there shd be 1 lesser since tat boy wants to go NYPS... šŸ˜‰
