40 in each class would be quite a tight squeeze. My daughter didn't get her 1st CCA choice
she ended up in Chinese dances. Anyone else in Chinese dance?
Is yr dd's first choice happens to be in one of the recommended list? The school seems to look at the child's strength for that particular CCA rather than their interest. So it looks like they will 'skip' yr 1st choice, if it's not in the recommended list and go for the 'recommended' one if you place it as 2nd or even 3rd choice. This happened to my dd's classmate. -

It is just M n N - 2 best class for P3 nxt year.
And the rest of the classes, are the places randomly allocated or is there some form of merit system? -

Yes, my dd is in the same plight as your dd's classmate. Chinese dance was one of the recommended CCAs and she chose it as her 4th or last choice. I would have preferred for her to be in the library or food and nutrition club.preggie:

Do you think we can appeal? -
They recommended Chinese Orchestra and I think Indian Dance for my girl, which I didn't include in any of her choices. :please: She told me she was interested in (I think brainwashed by the video they showed her) joining the Girls' Brigade. I said fine, if she really wants to. In steps the wife and she kept psychoing her to join Food and Nutrition (which, to be fair, my girl also expressed interest in).
In the end instead of Girls' Brigade and F&N 1st and 2nd choice, it was the other way round, with F&N 1st choice, and that's what she's joining next year.
If it were completely up to me I'd rather have her join a sport though.
Appeal... what have you got to lose? -
So the top 2 classes is 3M & 3N? Any idea each class how many went to 3M & 3N respectively?
Heard that there is a 3R in which if there is any subject(s) that scored 55% (English, Maths or MT), the children would be placed in this class. Even 55% is the passing marks, the school consider them had failed.
I guess this group of students would generally need more assistance from the teachers & the school support guidance. -
RADIN MAS. So there is 3M, 3N & 3R. Do not know the remaining 3 classes would be what. This is 1st time the school put top 2 classes as 3M,3N. In the past, it is always 3M,3A2 & 3S.

Yes,DS got into his first choice. A little regret cos I just learn they do hv sessions on alternate Sat :sad:yes, the 2 top classes already taken up 88 places, i'm not sure how the rest will be allocated to the remaining 4 classes.
Probably may have lesser students for weaker classes so as to enable the teacher to focus and help them better, jmho.
As for the CCA, did yr kids being selected according to their first choice? -

Is there really a need to squeeze all 240 of them in 6 classes? So short of space????? :?yes, the 2 top classes already taken up 88 places, i'm not sure how the rest will be allocated to the remaining 4 classes.

It would be good for someone to enlighten us.
My guess is that the change is the new principal's way of not 'living in the shadow' of the former. -
phew…my kid managed to maintain in the best class…4M. Overall, results are not as good as his last year results. Guess, P3 is more complex and difficult.
The GEP qualified kids may be switching to GEP schools. If that is ture, the school will lose so good results kids.
