Thanks mvm! Btw, is chess considered under DSA?
I think very few schools have chess under DSA. The only one I know is ACSI. -

Hi
What are the sch hours for nyps? -
Busymom:
During MTP last night, it was prominently shown on Mrs Lee's slide that the banding will be based on the average of ALL 3 subjects.
The info given last night by the teacher is that it will be based on English and Math. I am also puzzled why Chinese has been left out. :?Wintersoul15:
Hi,
I was told that streaming from P2 to P3 is based on Marh only, plus recommendation by form teacher ( to top 4 classes). Is this true? Are the teachers objective in recommendations? How come is not based on all 3 subjects? Is that e reason why at P1, the kids have so many Math mini tests? Can someone advise me? Thank you. My girl is very good in English n Chinese (almost full marks) Math is low band 1, so I am concerned. P1 this year.
According to Mrs Lee, the averages will be computed and sorted. The top 160 students will go into the 4 HA classes. -

You will know if your child ends up in one of the 4 HA classes.

But then again, NYPS doesn't publicly announce which are the HA classes. -

Will the top 40 be placed in a top class or all 160 are allocated evenly into the 4 classes? You will know if your child ends up in one of the 4 HA classes.

Mrs Lee said it won’t simply be 1-40 in first class, 41-80 second class…
They will have to look at the chemistry (separating students who don’t get along with each other), and the boy-girl ratio, among other considerations. -

By the way, does anyone know what is the Rising Star award for? -
Rising Star Award was created last year. If I don’t remember wrongly, it is to award students who have made great improvement after attending the sch’s remedial classes.
Btw, need adv on ECCA/CCA from P4. Understand that students must take CCA fm P4. Will ECCA suffice? Unfortunately, my kid’s favorite ECCA would not be converted to CCA so I am wondering if he needs to take up a CCA on top of the ECCA. -
My DD score 95%, is it consider good score for a P1 student? 98% is the highest in her class.
Teacher said she is one of the top students in the class, marks were pretty close, although she was not selected for Top 5 achiever awards but she is selected to be the model pupil for the class.
She was so happy. Me too: rah-rah:
For P2 going to P3 (Top 160 students will go to HA Classes) what will be the % score in order to go to the Top 4 classes? I realized that this school almost 2/3 of the students scores very well. I have seen some kids were so stressed out by the marks, they even cried when the names were not on the Top chart.
