MummyBaobao:
MummyBaobao, you are serving and staying in GRC A but are keen to apply to a school in GRC B?Hi daddy2007, but it seems that this thread keeps emphasizing NC only where you serve, while CCMC is where serve and reside.
Is there a change? So what's correct? -

Yes, so thinking how to go about doing it... -

I see. From the info. I gathered, it seems we are only eligible for the schools within the GRC we serve and because we usually join the GRC where we reside, so the schools eligible should be the GRC we serve and reside.

When is the registration for your child? If you have time, perhaps you could move and serve at the new GRC where your desired school is. Alternatively, you could apply and serve as Parent Volunteer for your desired school.

You can ONLY join the RC or NC in the place you reside. You CANNOT choose which RC or NC you wish to join.

The purpose of the RC or NC is to build up neighbours' relationships aka kampong-ness. It therefore does not allow residents from other areas to join as it will defeats the whole purpose of a RC or NC. They may be 1 or 2 such members in a RC or NC, aka associate member. There are there for various reasons like previous member who used to be in the RC has moved to another area. Even for such cases, they only hold the associate membership for a max of 2 years. And from what i understand an associate member DO NOT enjoy the same privileges as an Executive member (including pri 1 priority registration). -
hi,
i'm new here. Just wanna find out is there any difference joining NC and GRC? Both are eligible for phase2B?
And how to find out the schools that are within the GRC?
Thanks.

how man years do i need to be a GRC volunteer before i can be an executive member? any requirement like must volunteer in all activities or just to clock in certain number of hours or activities?

There is no difference between joining NC and RC, if you're qualified, both are eligible for P2B. But you can only join the RC/NC which serves your zone. If not, you will be considered Associate Member and no P2B privilege.hi,

In the past, MOE used to published the schools by GRC/SMC. But since this yr, reason unknown though, they have stopped doing so. You may want to check with PA (via CC) or MOE direct. -

You may want to read earlier posts where we have discussed extensively on what you are asking here. Basically, it took about minimum 2 years, depending on your active and commitment level. If you're really on, should be faster. You need not participate in all activities (remember family is still top priority), but each RC/NC may set their own criteria for their members, especially observers when you first joined. Usually we look at an observer's participation rate and commitment, unlike school's PV, we don't usually go by clocking hours.how man years do i need to be a GRC volunteer before i can be an executive member? any requirement like must volunteer in all activities or just to clock in certain number of hours or activities?

You need to be confirmed as Executive Member for 12 months before you're eligible for P2B. You will be eligible for all schools within the GRC, but do mind distance is also an impt criteria. So if the school is hot and you live beyond 1km or 2km, P2B will not help much. -

The 2 yr I mentioned is the minimum length that one may obtain the letter, but usually we encourage to start earlier to be very safe. So not 3 yrs. From observer to EM usually minimum 6 months and this applies to pretty active volunteers. Then you must fulfilled 12 months as EM. So 2 yrs is quite safe. But still for your case, it seems a bit too late for GRL path.Hi timtim,
