Hmm..that's reminded me that my boy told me that the 2 top students of his class are also posted out but to the same class...
Are there positioning given in your child report book?
No..but i compare his grades against the mean score posted by the school in the web...lol
Don't think there is TOP class cos my boy's class TOP few are all going to different classes, so far 3 or 4 of them are allocated to same class, so not so bad as they have current classmates same class next yr

my girl's class top 3 all going to different classes also... i believe is a random mix of 3 or 4 students from each class. -
Don't think they change classes for the sake of making new friends and such... There could be a strategy involved, why else they need a school day just to determine classes arrangement? Unless they take opportunity to 'eat snake'??? I mean ... take a break :nailbite:

There is definitely a strategy to the madness. :rotflmao: While there isnt a top class(es), there is a clear distribution of ability spread evenly across each class.
Like a bell curve, there are 2 to 3 high ability children and 2 to 3 weaker ones in each class. They also ensure that the ones needing a firmer hand ie behavioral intervention are separated from their kakis and placed in different classes.
The better students get a greater chance to shine, and can buddy their weaker friends. The last principal said the idea was to ensure that the whole cohort gets promoted.
So the children get to make more friends and a change of teachers. -

My child is in P3 this year. Per my understanding with the teacher, the first 8-9 students will be placed in each class, followed by the next 8-9 students. For example, the first in the cohort in A class, followed by second in B class etc. The cycle repeat in the same sequence for the rest of the students. So strictly speaking, all classes will have mixed ability abeit the A class will have more of the o/s ones… hope this clarifies.
