bigsnoopy, the 2nd tier misc fees can be paid using edusave. But I'm planning to use edusave to pay for excursion / enrichment stuff, easier for me, don't need to pass money to DD1, school just deduct with my consent, so not touching it for 2nd tier misc fees. I just use GIRO to pay for standard and 2nd tier.
Er... How much edusave they giving? -
Kissgurami:
Don't worry, doubt that the cost of excursion / enrichment progs will be so ex. If the amt in edusave is not enough, I think the teacher will just ask the student to pay cash.
uh oh... i misunderstood then.
are we able to top up edusave accounts?
Every year, MOE will contribute an amt into the edusave act, until sec level. -

During orientation, I had to complete 2 forms, the rest were mailed to us in the orientation package, so I complete them at home.
LOL! think it was the the sec sch who wasn't happy
See! I wrote that down in my survey form , to get them to mail us the forms instead of filling up during orientation. -
bigsnoopy:

Hmmmm, this yr the school did not assess the kids before allocating the classes. I wonder why…
My DD1 was given a class before the school starts. During orientation, the kids were given a tour and some colouring and trace to complete. Wonder why the change in direction. -
Castle House, P1 not touching social studies in your school?

SAHM_TAN:
Same here, the class was also allocated before Orientation. Bu during orientation, the girls were brought to their classrooms with form teacher and a few P5 students. They were given a few pages of worksheets to do , some form of assessment to understand the level of the students, if they are weaker or better, the teacher will make separate arrangements.Hmmmm, this yr the school did not assess the kids before allocating the classes. The P5 students were there to conduct the sight words reading with the girls -

I wanna see!
Is your school teaching Higher Chinese in P1? My Chinese textbook is Higher Chinese. If it's the same, I will post the pic for you to verify
Sch teaching normal chinese but there are higher chinese character cards so kind of confused.

For separate arrangements, do you mean the classes will be re-shuffle or that it's to identify who need LSP?

For the first day of school my DD1 does not need to bring any books. We were told that there will not be any formal teaching during the first 2 wks. It's more to ease the kids into primary school life. But I wonder if they would conduct assessment on the kids.
