Those heading for Club Med Cherating may want to do a trip to a nearby town called Kemaman (also called Cukai) where there's a pasar malam on Thursday nights http://www.l-a-m.com.au/view/250 Plenty of nice seafood (stuffed crab, etc) as well. There's also a small waterfall and a cave (bats and all) nearer Kuantan town.

I thought Club Med (Cherating) usually close at the end of the year for monsoon season?

BTW buds, it should be $60/pax/yr. Did you miss the NATAS promo? They were selling 1-for-1 and I thought it was a really goood deal.

I went to Cherating some years back with hb.

We did not stay in Club Med due to the price (I think it was around $500+ per person). I was still a student then & we were looking for budget holiday.

We stayed at The Legends Cherating. Nice place & as we went during monsoon season, we had the whole place to ourselves. We arranged to private tour guide to bring us around & we had loads to see! We went to the tribal village, then the waterfalls & went to watch turtles!

Total cost incurred during the whole trip including my shopping at Kuantan: S$600. Much cheaper than staying at Club Med πŸ™‚

We went into Club Med premise to 'recce' & liked it, but at that time, it was out of our budget. Now, we may take a trip up with my boy if time permits πŸ™‚

It is monsoon period in east coast m’sia during year end. The sea is rough and often heavy rain.

We have been to both CM Bintan & Cherating. We took a CM Cherating coach package (4D3N). The journey was long & bumpy, and slow because at a few parts of the journey, the coach was following long trailers which transport big tree trunks. Not only that, we had to assemble at Newton Circus at 6am to board the coach. We got to Cherating about 1 to 2pm.

CM Cherating has sailing which Bintan doesn’t offer. For golfers, CM Bintan can arrange for you to play at Ria Bintan which is just next to CM and the course is scenic. You have to pay separately to Ria Bintan.

If you have young kids below 2 yrs old, there is a petite club membership which you have to pay and CM will babysit for you including feeding your todlers. We enjoyed everything at CM - the food, activities, facilities, nite entertainment put up by their GRO.

Heyya TTLauPeh, shiok leh hear you mention the stuffed crab!
By the way, stuffed with what yah? 😐 Hehee.. But it sure sounds
soooooo appetizing right now! Thanks for the link to Kemaman,
as i'm a sucker for pasar malams / nite bazaars (cos sometimes one
can find novelty items for a steal of a bargain!) this definitely helps in
                    my decision. πŸ˜‰

The batty part, i a bit sceptical tho. 😐 I'm not actually an animal lover.
Not even cats. My hair stands when i'm near a cat... or when a cat
decides to walk between my legs and sometimes give a little snuggle
                    around one leg... I'd screeeeeaaamm!!!

                    :!:

I'm only worried about the monsoon. Not sure if i know the dark sides of
travelling during a monsoon period.. πŸ˜› Anyone knows, do share. Thanks!

                    :celebrate:

:stupid: That offer sounds so goooooddd! :stupid:

This is what happens when leave takes so long to be
approve until we miss the goodies from the big NATAS! 😒

About the closure caution, thanks heutistmeintag!
Good thing you mentioned so now i'll just ask and make sure..

I'll check out Legends for sure.
Yes, it is still over $2k for CM Cherating now...
At least, it's the total for my family of 4, & not
inclusive of the membership of $60 X 4 yet!!! 😒

You've definitely made my decision to go there
even way stronger than before. We've been to
Bintan many times over da years... almost like
2nd home... but never @ Club Med Ria Bintan..
mostly due to the high costs. So, wudn't mind
a CM getaway but definitely not in Bintan.

                        Thank you once again! πŸ˜‰
Your review is much much appreciated!

PS : Can share more on the monsoon period part?
Is late November / early December considered yr
                        end? 😐
