Sorry, I have no idea about the acceptance number. In my own case, I feel I have a chance, but not sure. -
i have just called nafa, they say will send by post and we should receive it by end today or tommorow (for sucessful candidates0. for non successful candidates, will receive later, maybe next week?
the examiner commented my gal aural skills not up to standard leh…but i am wondering how they gauge when my gal doesnt even want to open her mouth, and finally mumble a song after much coaxing…sigh -
Doramon - don’t worry, I’m sure many kids would be unwilling to sing in that kind of environment. Did you get any indication from the teacher about her chances? Anyway, my friend says most Prep kids will go through.
For Prep, what standard of piece must the kid plays in the audition? Heard must be Grade 1 standard - is it true?
Lwzh - wow, the teacher must have given your kid good feedback. Was your child trying for prep level? Taken music before? I wonder if my kid - no background - can audition or not. -
The feedback I got is my kid can play, but the teaching way he received is wrong. U know music teachers never appreciate each others. Another feedback is he jump too much, (my case from grade 3 to 6). She say grade5 can’t bypass, but she mentioned our theory can bypass since he already took grade 5 theory exam(result doesn’t come out yet)
Hope we all have good luck! -
Lwzh- Bravo to your child! Sounds very good! How old is he? Did they also test sight reading and other aspects?
-
He is 8 years old, but Jan boy. They tested him two pieces, aural (sing back, and sight sing), and sight reading.
Frechfrog, if your kid want to go to audition, I suggest you give him some basic training. Somebody told me they basically ask kid sing something, playing something and then test the kid’s ear. Yamaha is very good in these kind of training for kid age 4-6. -
Thanks, lwzh, will consider! So for Prep they cannot be complete beginners?
Your boy very good - only 8 and already done grade 6, must be one of those prodigy kids that NAFA is looking for. Should have a very good chance! -
just received the SMS saying my kid for prep was accepted.

Congratulation to your kid! I checked the mailbox last night, no letter. So nervous now…
