Henry Park Primary

My girl will be entering Henry Park next year but we can't seem to find any school bus that is willing to pick her up from Bedok. Does anyone have any suggestions? :?:

Looks like the bus operators are not prepared for those "long-distance" kids…

Hi,Hi Peapot,
I also have a boy in P2 this year. He will be in P3 next year.
Hi Sun2010,
Thanks for the explanation on the streaming of classes. If the selection of the kids are still randomly picked, I rather they don't stream at all. Do you have any idea if they will move the kids again end of P3 or P4 etc? Will they stay on the same class from now on? We were not brief on this at all!
At the end of P3, the kids will be streamed every year until P5. Afterwhich, P5 & P6 will remain in the same class.
I have two kids, 1 going P4 & another going P5 next yr. It seems like there are more 'I' classes for P4 compared to P5. Not too sure about the allotment of the better students. -

Hmm..just like the areas in the far north was not covered as well.
Did u seek the sch help? I thought the sch bus operator will assign the bus regardless of the distance, just that the amount maybe higher.
Worst case scenario is to take MRT to Bona Vista and then change bus 92 to the sch. -

Seriously, that's too far a distance for a child to travel. Not only long hours of travel both ways, her lunch and dinner will be at odd hours if she's eating at home. If u're working, u probably won't get much time to revise and go through her work with her after school.
U shd seriously consider moving nearer to HPPS or transfer her to a nearby school at ur current residence. If shifting is not feasible, u might want to try ur luck waitlisting at another nearby school. There are movements between schools now. All the best! -
it is extremely tiring for your poor child to tahan 6 long years, to and fro both ways everyday. Bedok is too far.
for her sake - try to rent a place nearer Henry Park, example: Ghim Moh. cut down travelling time substantially so that she has enough rest and sleep, plus on those days where she got CCA.
the worst scenario is also Not practical.
take MRT from Bedok all the way to Bouna Vista mrt and then change bus 92 to the sch takes approx. minimum 45 mins to 1 hour or more - exclude waiting time for bus 92 at peak period hours, joggle & squeeze with huge crowd to enter into train and worse, on wet, rainy thunderstorm days. She may not even get a seat to sit down. Train is very crowed, may have to stand all the way from Bedok to Buona Vista mrt. This is an extremely tiring journey for a poor young child in P1. It's a torture everyday like that. The journey to and fro everyday is going to kill her, not to mention that by the time she reach home, she'll be so dead tired that she got no time nor energy to revise homework. -

The classrooms at the temporary holding compound is smaller and hence they have more classes per level with about 33 kids in each class as compared to current 40 kids per class.

There is no better class among the I classes, but some C classes kid are stronger in Math or Eng. -

Agree on the point of long journey part. The kids are very tired after sch.it is extremely tiring for your poor child to tahan 6 long years, to and fro both ways everyday. Bedok is too far.

as a parent, you ought to have pre-empted all these potential transport headache issue, and should have inquired if got school bus go your place to Bedok, even before you enrol your child into Henry park primary.
Even now in the morning session, most kids are sleeping in the bus on the way from Jurong to Sch. For CCA days, the kids can only return with the afternoon session due to no available sch bus after CCA timing at 5pm. Resulted the kids only reach home around 7:30pm. Some of my neighbours actually pick their kids from the sch direct after CCAs.
For P1 & P2, if ur kid having CCA/enrichment/supplement at sch in the morning, U need to make other arrangement to send ur kid to sch. -
Dear all,
May I conclude that on the first day of school 3 Jan 2012, the P1 does not need to bring anything? From what I see on the orientation handout, only 2nd day onwards we will need to bring the books etc… -
Hello mummies
I am thinking of HPPS for my son as it is very near to my in-law place.
