MummySTay:
Thanks for your reply:) But he only scored A for English, A* for the other 3 subjects, distinction for HMT. Is \"+3\" counted for admission to RI?Dr Kiasu:
My boy got 269, can get into RI?
With that score, your DS can go anywhere!
:congrats: -

Thanks.Firstly Ms Tay - congrats to your son. He can now get into his dream school.
Ngbrdad - Your son has great results - and I have been told by an ex colleague that her son chose ACS(I) over RI and he is really enjoying himself there. I have yet to find out why - will let you know once I do.
All other parents congrats on fabulous results.
My son has come up with totally unexpectedly good results. We are suddenly faced with the happy problem of considering schools that were not even on our radar screen earlier.
Would anybody have any ideas on preference between SJI and VS? COP-wise he would qualify for both. We live in Hougang - neither school is close by.
Any definitely advantage of one over the other?
Thanks in advance.
VS is into IP next year.
SJI is a bit different. They will take in 60 students for IP at Sec 3 in 2014, from the 2012 O level intake and outside the school.
However SJI' s IP is for IB. -

269 is very good! He'll be able to get into RI. No worries! -

Anything on NJC website like RI supplementary exercise? If don't have, call them. Put in more appeals. You never know which one may call. It all starts with the top IPs who offer under supplementary exercise and then, near or on reporting day, the offered will give up their seats in other IPs and so forth all the way down to neighbor schools. Separately some under S1 exercise may be appealing too after their posting results. So alot of buzz and merry go round happening all at same time. It may take a while. So be patient and help him appeal to a few IPs and top tier O level schools. You can start checking out their websites. Some schools are starting to accept appeals. Btw does he have extras to offer? For example some sports or music talent or whatever. Then this is when it may help. Emphasize on these in appeals. Past years, some scoring below certain schools' S1 COPs get a few calls of offer from them after reporting day. Good luck. Don't give up!
Thanks.
We are considering ACSI since it's really near.
Thinking about appealing for NJC based on his DSA performance there. How to go about it ?

Otah:
Initially we didn't know where is SJI located.
How about SJI? Thot they also have SBGE? Your ds can use the EESIS there. RVH has no SBGE but I think DHS has.
Thought it is quite far from our place near Clementi.
After looking at the map, it seems not too far. -
jtoh:
Thanks jtoh. You have a good memory - yes, we were concerned as he had major issue with focus. But the last 3 weeks before PSLE he really put his head down and tried so hard to focus - it made us very proud. We had told him he was a winner no matter the score - but the score has now vindicated his effort. We are over the moon.
:congrats: vidhyalog!! I remember you were so concerned over your son's results. Am so happy that he's turned in much better than expected results.vidhyalog:

Problem is he has nothing extra to offer except being in GEP.
Other than that he has a WL from RI which I'm not sure whether can be used to appeal since his score is quite far off.
To make matter worse, we will be away from 14 to 18 Dec. -
Btw when my sonβs principal announce in the hall that 67 out of 69 pupils from the school were successful in DSA, we were so happy.
Late on we found out that in his class alone, there were at least 4 unsuccessful with DSA.
Think they include WL as suceesful. -
ngbrdad:
But he won't need the grant if he goes to a govt school where he only needs to pay S$23/mth school fees, does he?
On the S1 form it's stated that he is elligible for GE grant/EEEIS since he got promoted in the GE programme, despite his relatively low PSLE score.
So I guess if you opt for a school with SBGE and qualify you will continue to be in GE there. -
hello to all! This is my first time posting here, though iβve been following this interesting forum for a couple of months now.
Congratulations to all P6βers,on their well earned results.
Now for my query:
my DD got 259. we want to choose RGS as her first choice, and hope she gets in, if not plan to appeal.
but for the second choice we are not sure whether to put NJC or cedar.
please advice.
