I am a strong supporter of Crescent but MGS offers greater advantage because of the affiliation to ACJC and ACS I. A two point advantage is useful and parents have less to worry for the next 6 years. For that matter, any sec school with affiliation is useful if the student does not take higher MT.

Both my girls are from MGS (P). MGS has very gd parents support. Their curriculum are very all rounded and school always update parents on the events and happenings. Moreover if your girl choose to go MGS (S) this yr, she will be offer to do IB at ACS (I) in 2014 when she Sec 3 when the school goes IP. Do go into their website for the latest update on this. Cant say much about Crescent cause no friends or relatives study there.

            Hi,

            This thread has been silent.

Would like to know what the opinion is in 2023. O-level comparison for non-affiliated student.

Is it worth paying more fees to MGSS for the 2 points for JC entry? For the four years it will be a difference of 15k or more.

            Appreciate any comments.

Do note that the 2 bonus points for affiliation are to ACJC only (not any other JC).

For a neighborhood school price (<$15 per month) & same 2 affiliation points to ACJC, PLMGSS and GMSS offer the same thing.

So the qn is, does MGS o level track offer something extra that is worth paying for?

                1)
If your daughter want to go IB right after her PSLE, then go MGS (IB).

                2)
                But,
if your daughter want to do O level, then

no need to specifically go to MGS. Choose any value-added Secondary school like (Crescent Girls, Cedar Girls, Paya Lebar Methodist Girls), Chung Cheng High, Anglican High, St Nick, etc. will do

Yes. That is the question. The other schools are too far.

Thank you. Looking at O-level. It is unlikely that she will qualify for IB.

                      Fairfield? Relatively near to Crescent…

I guess u want all-girls comparisons. Probably the intangible factors (religion? Networking? Chance for lateral upgrade?) unless u prefer better O level results (Crescent, I believe, can achieve this due to tougher internal papers).

                        Thank you.

We shortlisted these two because of CCA offerings and option to apply for MEP.

Not particular about religion or influence of religion. It can only be positive moral education and values they talk.

Have to think whether Networking and Lateral upgrade to IB (tough competition and less probability) are worth the $. I think my girl will enjoy IB style, more projects, kind of education...from the little knowledge I have. But I read that the difference between A level and IB is reducing.
