Hi SKIVE_VING, answers to your questions can be found http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/enhancing-your-chances-getting-your-child-your-school-choice.Hi Chief, I am a newcomer to this forum.
I am living in Marine Parade and would like to enrol my son in TNS in Yr 2011. Being eligible in only Phase 2 C, would appreciate your advise if being a parent volunteer for TNS will increase the chance to enrol in the school.
Will TNS still accept parent volunteer now if it is for Yr 2011 registration?
Would we stand better chance for staying within 1 Km of TNS. :?: -
Actually what are the chances like for phase 2C for TNS for those within 1km?
Also, if we were to register the child under phase 1 in another school, how can we monitor the chances for phase 2C??? Do they publish the registration information by distance???
I am contemplating if I should expose my 2005 to another school. -
Based on past years TNS enrollment, balloting would be neccessary for phase 2C for within 1km. Competition is expected to be hotter with more condos springing up in the surrounding areas.
TNS published the number registered by distance on daily basis on the whiteboard outside the registeration room. -

I think it's not too late to be a PV but think the role are restricted to traffic warden right.
Also, I am concerned about the opportunity cost of what if she don't get in under 1km.... :stupid: Seeing how stressful P1 registration is, probably I will stick to phase 1 at the end of the day. -
Yes, TNS PV is traffic warden duty only but covers duties at
- main gate
- back gate
- canteen gate
- zebra crossing at back gate
- zebra crossing inside school
IMO Canteen gate is the easiest & least stress ⦠sheltered from the weather and basically stop parents from entering school.
Past years balloting for phase 2B has been between 1-2 km.
Registeration for PV for 2005 babies has started in Jan and will close once there are more applicants than available PV places. Applicants will then be invited to the school to attend a briefing of the duties and open balloting. -
Hi Tankee,
To get into TNS by PV is strictly by 80 visits as Traffic Wardens?
There is no other duties to perform at TNS? -
as far as i know, yes only traffic warden, 80 sessions of 30 minutes each.
Other duties are mainly performed by PSG. -

I got into phase 2B as PV.
I did traffic warden duties, twice a week, 10 weeks per term for 4 terms.
Good thing about TNS is that they do not expect PV parents to do more than 40 hours and if the day you are supposed to be on duty and there is no school (eg public holiday, swimming competition, PSLE marking, etc), then you may not need to do makeup.
