        Does anyone have info on the number of seats available for NJC sec 1 posting? I believe this time the number of DSA offers given out were quite less and also no waiting lists. Is the total number of seats still 180? TIA

          If any new student or JH1 boys want to have extra uniforms, we have a few used sets (at least 3 sets, I think) for giveaway. For boy’s height around 146-155cm (that was my son’s height in JH1 & JH2).

          PM me if interested.

            Hi, I’m deciding btw NJC and HCI for my DS’s sec school. Appreciate it anyone cd advise me on the following:

            - Is NJC’s IP programme very stressful and achievement-oriented? Is the work standard very high?
            - Do the teachers teach well or is a lot of family support required in the academic subjects?
            - Are the children generally given the CCA of their choice?
            prefer an environment where my DS has some breathing room instead of having to study all the time. TIA!

                Hi, I'm deciding btw NJC and HCI for my DS's sec school. Appreciate it anyone cd advise me on the following:

                From the point of a jh2,
                - I don't think the programme is very stressful and achievement-oriented. The assessments are planned such that they are not all tests/quizzes. For example, we have debates that may constitute up to 25% of a certain module, and group project/presentation that takes up another 15%, etc. It's not a always-study environment, more like a 'fun' learning experience.
                - I think the teachers teach rather well. And certain assessments like individual speech or group works are not really things that family support can help.
                - For the first year, there is a CAFE programme for students to try out different CCAs each term. In JH2, you will choose a CCA to be in and stay in it for a year. If you want to change at the end of JH2, you must get approval from the teachers. Otherwise, it will just be continued the next few years. As for whether they get into the CCA, depends on the teachers. For most (almost all) CCAs, you will most likely get in as long as you indicate it as your first choice unless the intake is full. But sometimes it still happens that you can't get into the first choice.

                Hope this helps 😄

                  hi all,

                  i'm posting this using my kid's login name..:)
                  Any one can advise on the full day classes offered by NJC vs other IP school which are having single session? are they the same thing?

                  According to someone in ther early posting, JH1 and 2 will end at 3:30 daily, is this including core CCA? or it will be another 2 hours, 3 times a week?

                      Dear CassN,

                      1) Does that mean yr 1 student go through similar CCA programme and they do not need to choose till they complete the CAFE programme??
                      2) I am new to NJC. By the way, what is JH1/2/3/4?
                      3) I heard that students dont need to use too many textbooks in yr 1. Is it true? Then how do the teacher conduct their lessons and how do the students revise for their subjects?
                      4) If my dd decides to take Japanese for 3rd language, where is the location of the language center?

                        1) There is a range of CCA available for JH1s(year 1s - that is, the Sec 1s) to choose from. They have to select 3 CCAs among the list to join for the whole 1st year they are in NJC. Once approved by school, they will join the CCA according to the schedule set by the school. 1st 1/3 of school year with one CCA, 2nd 1/3 of school year with another CCA, and Final 1/3 of school year with the last CCA. At the end of JH1, they have to put in their preferences for a Core CCA to be picked from a list to be done in JH2 (Sec 2 - their 2nd year in NJC). They can also put in preferences for a subsidiary CCA as well.

                        2) JH1:Sec1, JH2:Sec2, JH3:Sec3, JH4:Sec4 (JH -> Junior High).
                        SH1: JC1, SH2:JC2. (SH -> Senior High).

                        3) School prepares booklets and notes according to their curriculum. The students will know what to study lah.

                        4) Foreign Language Centres - 2 in Singapore, right? Buona Vista or Bishan. Your choice to apply.
