Bkt Panjang might be a better choice because

            - School with highest COP in CCK.
            - More convenient for you
            - Band 1 for O levels L1B5 whereas Nan Hua is in band 2.
            - Think Nan Hua girls need to tie plaits... some gals don't like the idea :please:

            Just my 2 cents...

Nan Hua is pure express while BPGH has NA and NT too.

Don’t know whether that will affect your decision or not.

for schools with all express and mix of NA/NT, my main concern is more on the number of streamed classes available for pure science subjects in upper sec and cohort size. any parents have information on how many classes in each school (BPGH vs NH) offers mixed science and pure science and triple science stream (if it is how they operate nowadays...)?
                thanks!

For the number of classes, I think it depends on the performance of the students for that batch. If more students qualify for Pure Sciences, I believe the school will open more Pure Sciences classes. ALso I understand BPGH takes in overseas scholars in Sec 3, hence the number of classes will definitely increase.

What if your kid does not like Pure Sciences, but prefer Pure Humanities or Arts or Design and Technology? I know both schools allow their good students to do Triple Sciences or 2 Pure Sciences. However, you need to check whether the school offers other subjects like Pure Hist, Pure Geog, Econ, Higher Arts, etc etc. If you choose a better school, your child may not be able to do subjects like Arts, Design and Tech. Is this a good choice?

not sure about the pract nowadays or diff from sch to sch, back in my time where there were only 9 classes (in another sch, not BPGH or NHHS) and only fixed 4 mixed-science classes, 4 pure-science classes and 1 triple-science classes, so i thought the class type are fixed every year.
nowadays have pure and mixed humanities? i thought humanities are pure all along?
need to find out more liao...thanks! 😉

Currently, Sec 3 and 4 students need to do Combined Humanities, which consists of Social Studies and History or Geography or Eng Lit. This subject is mandatory for all Express and NA students. For Pure Humanities, most schools offer Eng Lit, Geography, History. Few schools also has other subjects like Chinese Lit, Malay Lit, Economics.

If you do Social Studies and History, you cannot do Pure History.

From BPGH's website, its top students can do Triple Sciences and Double Humanities (the toughest combination). Majority will do Triple Science and Combined Humanities or 2 Pure Sciences and Combined Humanities and 1 Pure Humanities.

The weaker one in BPGH has more options, like
                      1) Combined Humanities and Combined Science (Bio/Chem) or (Phy/CHem)
                      2) Combined Humanities and Combined Science (Phy/Chem) and Pure Bio

Not sure about NHHS as the info is not on the school website

Hope the info is useful for you.
