BP or Nan Hua
-
Here’s my two-cents’ worth:
I would recommend BPGHS myself, having been a student there. First of all, it is a Band 1 school, which means students score an L1B5 average of >11 points for O levels, which is pretty commendable. Nan Hua, on the other hand, is a Band 2 school, according to the information booklet. It may not be the best indicator of which is a better school, but this may be the most objective source available.
Based on my experience in BP, I would say most of the students there turn out well, both in terms of academic and character development. The academic curriculum is challenging, but it prepares students well for the O levels. For instance, I was told by a teacher that lower secondary students are often given lesson materials from the upper secondary standard, and the upper secondary students are given materials from tertiary standards e.g. JCs. I believe this is the reason for BP students’ strong performance in the O levels, especially in the subjects of Mathematics and Science.
I won’t deny that I don’t feel much of an affiliation to the school, because it was never my first choice (it was SCGS). But I feel compelled to speak in favour of BP because I have, indeed, benefited from an education there. In fact, my father was so impressed with the school that he convinced my younger sister to enter it too. Both of us turned out well, if i may say so myself. And BP was also at a much more convenient location for us, since we’re staying at CCK too.
Sorry I can’t speak for Nan Hua. Perhaps someone else is better positioned to do so.
Hope my experience helps! -
Oops, I meant <11 points!

You can try Crescent Girls.

Hi
BPGHS is a great school shld seriously consider that ESP since you live nearby
It is likely in my choice too though I live v v far away -
heard Bukit Panjang Govt High is a good school too
-
Nan Hua just changed its principal to the former CTSS principal… the former Nan Hua principal went to Dunman high… he is good… but heard many staff left nan hua after the princiapl went to dunman high…
-
Bkt Panjang might be a better choice because
- School with highest COP in CCK.
- More convenient for you
- Band 1 for O levels L1B5 whereas Nan Hua is in band 2.
- Think Nan Hua girls need to tie plaits... some gals don't like the idea :please:
Just my 2 cents... -
Nan Hua is pure express while BPGH has NA and NT too.
Don’t know whether that will affect your decision or not. -

for schools with all express and mix of NA/NT, my main concern is more on the number of streamed classes available for pure science subjects in upper sec and cohort size. any parents have information on how many classes in each school (BPGH vs NH) offers mixed science and pure science and triple science stream (if it is how they operate nowadays...)?Nan Hua is pure express while BPGH has NA and NT too.

For the number of classes, I think it depends on the performance of the students for that batch. If more students qualify for Pure Sciences, I believe the school will open more Pure Sciences classes. ALso I understand BPGH takes in overseas scholars in Sec 3, hence the number of classes will definitely increase.

What if your kid does not like Pure Sciences, but prefer Pure Humanities or Arts or Design and Technology? I know both schools allow their good students to do Triple Sciences or 2 Pure Sciences. However, you need to check whether the school offers other subjects like Pure Hist, Pure Geog, Econ, Higher Arts, etc etc. If you choose a better school, your child may not be able to do subjects like Arts, Design and Tech. Is this a good choice?
