:thankyou: for your help. :salute: Which one do you think is better for my DD? Her score is 259+3. NJC or DHS? :scratchhead: Because I think she doesn't stand a chance for RGS and NYGH already. :faint:
i think there are schoolbus services fr AMK in the morning......Mdm KY:
Hi, (school bus service available ( 1 way transport)
to school in the morning and to MOELC), I live at AMK, how to get there?
as for public transport.....actually i am a dumbo at it as i dont take public transport,
perhaps others can direct u much better......
btw, the nearest MRT station is Aljunied where there is a direct Bus 158 ,
avail at certain hrs in the morning and afternoon,
esp for DHS students, and the bus-stop is located just outside DHS.
and the new circle line, nearest is Mountbatten station. -

u might stand a chance for NYGH, since the COP for last yr is 262,
inclusive of HCL bonus, unless it increases again this yr.
why not juz indicate NYGH as 1 st choice ?
for NJC, u cant include the +3 points.
i think, whether u put NJC or DHS as 2 nd choice, u'll still get it.....
so which 2 u prefer, indicate that as 2 nd choice. -

Thanks a lot!
Is your DD from DHS? How is it? Does she have a lot of stress? Are the teachers good? And should my DD opt for third lang? Is it hard to cope with the stress with the addition of the third lang? Anyways, I pray for the best for you and your family! :xedfingers:

Hi, for those keen in Duman High, I would like to share with everyone.
My dd is in Duman High year 4 this year, Next year, she will be promoted to Senior High,
She loves her school, teachers and friends in Duman High. For those who are undeceived to choose between njc or Duman. You may try Duman if you are in the east. Dun waste time travelling plus school starts at 8am. -
My dd has been taking school mini van to Duman High. You may check with the general office for the contact no. Or I will post the tel no. later. you may check with the uncle for those who are keen.
My dd is not at home at this moment, the driverβs contact no is with her. She probably be
back late tonight. -

Is yr dd going sec 3 next year? The reason for my concern asking no. of DHSians doing Law is that a lot of my surrounding people\" comment that the pupils here lose out in GP compared to those top JC applicants and thus may not have a good chance to enter Law or journalism which happen to be my dd's dream! Anyway, I appreciate your kind effort in answering all our kiasu questions in this forum. Look like u are the only one holding the fort!
oh....u're welcomemoirwong:
A millions thanks to Augmum for replying. I must have been annoying to fire such a series of bullets, Sori.
from yr reply, I am clear that Lit besides Eng is compulsory as LA in upp sec. Could u pls advise if LA= Eng+Lit in sec 1 n2 too? I read somewhere that Econs is incorporated in juniors' syllabus? Is this right? Do you hear or see a good nos. of DHSians entering Faculty of Law in NUS?
I saw yr next post regarding a new P. May I assume P means principal? Is it already made known to all?
Thank you for your time, Augmum :thankyou:
glad that i can help in yr queries, but then again,
i may not know entirely all,
as nowadays i wasnt invovle in my gal's studies unlike in primary school.
yes, LA=eng + lit for sec 1 and 2 and 3 as well....
(for yr 3, only 1 LA novel , compared to those opting for Eng Lit, who has to do 4 books)
Econs in junior high....no leh....not for sec1 and 2
sorri, no data on DHians on doing laws....
maybe when my gal is in yr 4, i 'll do more research.....
the new principal has been with DHS for 2 yrs.....
Should not bother you more, enjoy yr weekend. :salute: :udawoman: -

she is happy there where she meets some of her great frens and teachers
i often hear her saying, β DHS is awesome !!!β :please:
but at times, she does grumble too regarding the sch workload,
where there are clashes of deadlines for assignments, projects and RS (research studies),
the memorising of 40-50 ζθ― at 1 go.......
and occasionally, some comments of certain subj teachersβ¦β¦
regarding stress level, fyi, y1 is consider as βhoneymoon periodββ¦.
definitely more busy and stressful than primary sch.
Stress level also varies fr class to class as some classes are less competitive,
with more bochap peersβ¦..so less pressure....
moreover, some subj teachers are more demanding than others,
thus more work has to be done.
It will be more stressful from yr 2 onwards, when streaming of subj combo takes place,
whether the pupils can continue taking HCL also depends on yr 2 HCL results,
but not too worry, the criteria is very reasonable, only need a min of grade C.
does yr gal have a passion for 3 rd lang in the first place ??
if not, juz forget abt it as with 3 lang itβs more tiring (long hrs + travelling) and time consuming.
What we see is either the pupils drop 3 rd lang at the end of the yr1 due to the above reasons.
or their GPA (grade pt average) at end of yr 2 do not qualify them to continue with it.
Mdm KY:
thank u.......Anyways, I pray for the best for you and your family! :xedfingers:

oh senior high......expecting even higher stress level....
yes, we are glad that DHS is in the east, unlike during the upgrading,
where they moved to Mt sinai. :faint:
the 8 a.m flag-raising time is juz too tempting too......

yes, she is.

yes, i do understand yr concern.
but on the otherhand, i do heard senior high pupils taking up extra coaching/tuition for GP (in fact, not only GP)
even though they are fr the top JCs,
so i do have some reserve that good results are def all fr the credits of the sch teachers......
and i dont deny that RJC, HCI are more experienced in running the JC's curriculummoirwong:
oh......sometimes, this thread is rather quiet as DHS parents are not so active or perhaps not so KS.......hahaLook like u are the only one holding the fort!
Should not bother you more, enjoy yr weekend. :salute: :udawoman:
do enjoy yr wkend too.......after u have decided on the choices ....
