Mommy to 3js, the dictionaries are in the optional list. Someone has mentioned that dictionaries are useless. Considering how expensive it is, I am not gonna get it. Think the White board, colour cards and index sheets are compulsory. So better get all those items that are listed urn compulsory.

Hi Tinkerbelle,

The school councillor called and met us after the Orientation last Saturday. She was really nice but seemed to have more experiences dealing with special needs children. MY DD is not considered as a special needs child in the general sense, in fact MOE is working with the school to provide subject extension/acceleration for her as we didn't want her to enter P1 earlier. However in reality, she does have different needs which we were able to support in the private preschools but it's more rigid in the formal school system.
Hi phoenix,
Oic....good to hear MOE is working with the sch to provide some acceleration to your DD's academic workload. Guess your DD will be learning at an advanced level from P1-P3 in MCS. The students will sit for a GEP selection test in P3 and your DD will have the opportunity to choose to be in the GEP programme in P4. All the best. πŸ˜‚

Hi Tinkerbelle,

How did yur DD fare in e PSLE? To yur expectation?

How did our MCS gals fare in this 2011's PSLE? Do u have any info to share??? :scratchhead:
Hi cantbearit2,

Tks....DD did better than expected and will be able to go to her dream sch, RGS :rahrah:

Generally, this yr's P6 cohort has done well with more quality passes, despite the slightly lower than national average % for Chinese.

MCS 2011 PSLE pass rate is 99% with 77.1% qualifying for the Express stream.
Top score is 265 and there are about 12-15 students who scored more than 260. I forgot to count exactly how many as I was too overwhelmed by the whole event....keke. πŸ˜‰

I went to buy uniform today and the lady said the P1-2 uniform should end 4 fingers above the knee. Does that sound right? I was thinking to myself, above knee for convent schools πŸ™‚

Mummies, do the girls usually wear singlets or camisoles under the pinafores?
Hi phoenix,
The gals do grow quite quickly and the uniforms will become very short in no time. Advisable to buy slightly longer...at least can last your DD for the yr... πŸ˜‚

Yes, DD wears a singlet under her pinafore as the armholes of the pinafores are quite big.

Think I'm prob e only mommy who has yet to purchase text books & uniform for my DD...

Uniform

Guess the safest is to get longer; will \"shorten\" it to knee length now by folding & sewing e hem. In this way, I can adjust as my DD grows; don't need to keep changing uniform.

Books/Stationery

I am in the midst of ordering from Pacific Bookstore and HB saw the following items.. He asked if it's r necessary to purchase & what's the use??? :?: He thinks it's not necessary but lazy mommy jus wana get things done once & for all.
• Set of White board / marker
Index Sheet
Art Bag
Model Template
Assorted Color word cards
My 1st picture dictionary
Longman word by word dictionary
•
Hi mommyto3js,

Yes, it's compulsory for the lower pri gals to buy the white board, marker & duster as the gals will need the white board to practice writing words and to answer questions posed by their teachers.

You'll also need the assorted colour word cards for writing new English words and for learning nouns, proper nouns, verbs and adjectives etc.

Your DD will need a bag to put all her art materials but it doesn't have to be from the MCS/Pacific bookstore. If you already have a bag big enough to put the art block and the oil pastels.....you can just use that.

Model template, My 1st picture dictionary, Longman word by word dictionary are not necessary.
The index sheet was not used during DD's time so I'm not sure what that's for. πŸ˜‚
