MummySTay:
Hi MummySTay,Hi Tinklebelle, congrats first, but I actually missed your post. How did your DD do? She's also going to RGS right? Bought uniform already?
As for 3rd lang, luckily still got a few more days to mull over, but I think DH and I will respect DD's decision, whatever it may be.
Sorry for the late reply...had problems logging in and the thread was moving super fast so I lost track of the pages I've read.
Firstly, congrats to you & your DD for her achievements. :rahrah:
DD got 26x and yes, she's going to RGS.
Haha...we are very KS....went to buy uniform straight after we got the PSLE results. Have you bought yours yet?
Indeed, we still have 2 more days to decide on 3rd language. Yes, I agree with you, whatever choice DD makes, we will respect & support her.

My DS got 26X, 4 A Stars, with Merit in Higher Chinese.. Not bad for a child with no tuition, except for English, which started only in P6! DS wil be joining RI next year (DSA). Hope to 'meet' Ms Tay, Leanne, vlim , Paddy Field, at RI (thread) next year! Cheers!!!
Hi firefly,
:congrats: to you & DS.
That's excellent results for someone with no tuition, except for English.

phankao, my sincere feedback, 258 need not appeal, RGS will reject, you can imagine the long Q. My DD is in RGS. Last year, S1 posting, her best friend got 266, she made a mistake & chose DHS as 1st choice. Of course she got DHS, guess what? After posting results confirmed, she immediately went to RGS to appeal. It was not successful. My sincere sharing, please make sure the choice is right, there is no room for error! Don't waste the 1st choice,
:yikes: Make a mistake as in key in wrong code in system? Aiyo, the mum and dad never do four eye check?! :stupid: :slapshead: what a twist of fate!
Not that keyed-in wrong code, she wanted & chose DHS nearer to her home . While my DD & DW advised her parents repeatedly (not to let her decide). Posting day,all her top classmates 266 & above went RGS & NYG , she changed her mind during reporting day at DHS . The boys went RI & HCI, She cried buckets, her parents & she appealed but still got rejected! :stupid: That's the price of some parents being too democratic , quote RGS's sch authority! :? -

Oh, is that based on the assumption that top 10% goes to independent sch?[/quote]Not too sure but probably. When I started reading KSP forum, everyone says EESIS is top 3%.
Yes both of you are correct. And some senior expert KSPs have worked out that it also translates to roughly top 3% of PSLE cohort.Snow Crystal:

I believe so too. It's on MOE website.

Dr.K:
Snow crystal, I attended RI open house and the principal had this to say;STUDENTS admitted from non-GEP schools will be placed in separate classes for year 1 &2. ONLY in year 3 will GEP and non-GEP students will be allowed to be mixed according to their results.
Generally yes for Years 1 and 2 ie GEP classes left intact with some top mainstream boys placed together with them. These mainstreamers are usually very high scorers. GEP vs non GEP will no longer important in most IPs from Year 3 ie all merged from Year 3 depending on their subject combinations. -
One more question here, anyone can help?
Is the COP for every school also inclusive of the score fm DSA candidates? If thatโs the case, we cannot use the COP as a reference. Or is it solely fm non-DSA applicants? Am confused.
Thanks. -
Snow Crystal:
The Essis is given to the top 1/3 of Singaporean mainstream students who got a place in independent schools. MOE already calculated that cop when results are released and before posting is done. From observation the past few years, this cop correlates to the tops score each year. The year when top score was 294, I think the cop for Essis was 265. Last yr and this yr when the top score was 282 and 283 respectively, the cop is 260.kitcat:
Hi I was thinking EESIS is given to the top 1/3 of cohort entering Independent School, no so?
Yes yes you are right. From the KSP forum, some guru has also worked out it translates to roughly top 3% of cohort.
This Essis cop somewhat serves as an indicator for the cop of schools like ri,hci, rgs, nygh. The girls schools normally have a higher cop than the boys s schools because the girls generally do better in psle. -

The cop is the score of the last candidate that each school accepts through the sec 1 posting exercise. It does not include the Dsa applicants. One more question here, anyone can help?
