Victoria School or Catholic High School?

Can those in the CHS then switch to IP when it start?

It states on the MOE website that CHS sec 1 batch of IP will be 2013. For Sec 3 batch, it will be 2015. So I suppose those who are already in the school before then would not be allowed to switch.

I'm wondering why wouldn't they allow this switch? Wouldn't you want your own students to form the new IP cohort? Does this mean a lack of confidence on (1) own students and/or (2) the new IP programme?

Or perhaps it's just a case of expectation management - it's easier to say they can't switch and then allow flexibility later when it's finalised.

IP will be for a portion of the Sec 1s in 2013. Any other students would be in Sec 2 or Sec 3 - no IP for them bc the programme is only available for the Sec 1s. The school will then progressivly build the curriculum as that batch moves up to Sec 2, 3, 4. Don't think any student wants to be \"demoted\" eg. Sec 2 student in 2013 ask to go to Sec 1, just so that they can be in the IP.

How else could this info be interpreted?

There is no other interpretation. Only students who are in the Sec 3 cohort of 2015 can join the Sec 3 IP programme then. By then, the Sec 1 batch of IP 2013 would also have moved up to Sec 3. so the timing matches.

Yes, the Sec 3 start date is 2015 for the batch of sec 1s from 2013. 2012’s batch of sec 1s will only be in sec 3 in 2014. Either way, I reiterate that I still feel strongly against the new CHS IP and in fact, find next year’s batch of sec 1s fortunate to have to take the Os. Why? It is less of the fact that the CHS IP is new and unproven (since I have faith it will be a success) but more of the fact that next year’s sec 1s can work hard and attempt to make it into the top 2 JCs. Even if they do not make the cut, their safety nets, NJC and VJC, are very promising too.

Victoria is preferable, if you stay in the east, Catholic High if you are central.
Personally, I will make Victoria my first choice, Nil Sine Labore
