Can anyone advise me what good assessment books to buy for IP track? And also what textbooks to use for RGS Year 1?

I see you're getting ready for RGS. 🙂 The book list will be given out on registration day. As for assessment books, my dd never used any. 😄

Check out the parents networking forum for more info on RGS and ask questions there if you have any. http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=4574

We might change the fifth choice to VS 'o' level and 6th Anglican High.

You mean VS-IP and VS'o' are two choices? How about ACS(I) Thot just put as one choice and if you can't get into IP they will post you to 'O' track?

Yes, different school codes for VS-IP sand VS-O, so key in the right school code. Same applies to Cedar.

RGS using macs next year and stuff>< So maybe the textbooks and syllabus changes? Otherwise, we don't use much textbooks. Sure, we still have to buy them, but we only use the Chinese and Lit ones the most. The rest are for reference, chucked in some corner of our lockers...

Assessment books...my advise is nothing! Because RGS curriculum in Sec 1 mixes stuff normally for other years. There was a topic on math my brother was doing in Sec 3 in this year's syllabus :yikes: :yikes: It's best to see what will be taught(you will be given the scheme of work as school starts) before buying. So far Chinese and maths are the easiest to purchase, but the rest......

Need any syllabus for this year let me know:)

Hi Jtoh, hv read a lot in this thread and u hv helped to answer most queries.

I need your help. May i ask if someone has been accepted by NUSH
phase 2 (results of application will be made known 16/12).
Thereafter (21/12)received S1 posting, and decided not to take up NUSH. Does that means the vacancy will be left for those who appeal?
By applying to NUSH,does one lessen the chance of getting the 1st choice of our sch? thank u very much!

Some schools do not have their past year’s O level results shown on their websites and we could not find it under MOE’s school information either. Is there a way to find out besides calling up the school to check? TIA.

                    Hi tehsusu,

NUSH conducts its admission separately from the S1 Posting so applying to one will not affect your chances in the other. After you receive both results, you can choose which one to accept. But I think there's a time period within which you have to accept NUSH' offer. I can't recall if this is before the S1 Central Posting releases its results. If that's the case you'll have to accept/decline NUSH' offer before knowing the results of your S1 posting. Maybe some NUSH parent can clarify.

NUSH has full discretion over the intake of its students. So whether it releases the new vacancy to those appealing or not is entirely up to the school. In the past NUSH has chosen not to take its full intake of students, choosing only the top students into its fold.

Hi Choco05, is there any compulsory Chinese classics that year 1 girls must read. I understand RI does 三国演义. What about RGS?

                      Does any other parent know?

No, we don't have. We have this chinese culture book that we are required to read and answer the booklet questions. I don't think anyone actually read the whole thing though, we just flipped to where the answer is 😆 😆

                        Yes RGS slacks too.
