DSA 2011

Hi all,
i heard that there is a new MOE ruling this year and indicates that students who are successful in DSA WILL NOT be allowed to be transferred to another school.
Any KSP aware of this, and does this imply that students who take up CO cannot appeal to another school?
Advice will be much appreciated… Thanks!!! -

It has always been this way. Terms & Conditions are stated, the student/parent accepts it by accepting the offer when they put in the Preference Option. It's only that parents/students always try to rescind this agreement by appealing against it.

Let's see how strict schools are about it this year. -

Rgs website for post psle admission mentioned Dsa appeal must be approved by moe…Check it out.

No it’s not new. It’s always been that once you accept a DSA CO you’re not allowed to change it. It’s just that the schools always entertained appeals and MOE looked the other way. It’s this year that they’re enforcing it.

as RGS was her dream sch.
RGS has clearly stated this new directive from MOE in their website.
Important Notice:
Transfer of DSA-Sec Students
According to a new directive by MOE, students who have accepted DSA offers from other schools are not allowed to apply for transfers after the announcement of the PSLE results, unless there are exceptional circumstances. An example of an exceptional case would be permanent injury, resulting in the student being unable to fulfill their commitment to the DSA school they have accepted, and therefore have to seek school placement elsewhere.
DSA students who have strong reasons to seek an appeal to RGS may fill up this form. Please print out, complete the form, and send it via email to [email protected], or deliver by hand to the General Office by Thu 22 Dec, 2pm. Please note that this appeal will be subject to MOE approval. -

yet to know if they are really enforcing it
the rule / restriction has always been repeated every year -

No. This year MOE sent out an official letter to the schools in October stating it very clearly. You can see the directive clearly stated on some schools' websites. If MOE doesn't enforce it it shows that MOE has no bite.jtoh:
