You can sign up for the auditions in year 2. There's also a selection camp at year 1 end-of-year for PITs(prefect in trainings)and PSLs.jtoh:
Peer Support Leaders. Seniors that the Year 1s can turn to for advise and people who show the Year 1s what a fantastically fun and awesome place RGS is.

Umm then when can we become a PSL? -
jtoh:
:rotflmao: Not far from the truth. :)[/quote] :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: you don't need to trouble PSLs for that:) Just go and ask any random senior like me and i'll teach you:PMummySTay:

Thanks, jtoh.
Like teaching yr 1s how to slack, have fun and still score in exams, huh?

I also managed to clarify that coloured soles are now allowed as long as other parts of the sock has no logo. Though it is not encouraged so as to maintain professional image, it is allowed.

Orientation week basically starts when you go to school, and lasts for a week. There's an overnight stay camp on the last 2 days. It features performances put up by the year 1s on the last day(likely a Saturday)and parents can go and see it!chatterbox321:
Thank you so much for the valuable input! May I know more about the \"Orientation Week\"? When will it be?
Orientation week is like this week to teach the new Sec 1s our famous Raffles Cheers, introduction to Houses, School song, class bonding and nice stuff like that:) Oh those are the days!~
You will be given a programme booklet that includes a school map(trust me you need it  )and the facilities, plus timetables for each day.
The reason for not being allowed to wear the blouse+pinafore is that you are not considered as an RGS girl fully until the Badge Initiation Ceremony (likely to be on a Friday).
The BIC is nice. You will finally be given the RGS school badge and you get to light up nice candles and sing and it's basically very cool! There will also be games, be it inter-house games or class ones. It's for you to bond with your class! Preparing for the play/performance is cool too.
This might sound frightening to a shy person(i was one) especially the camp but really as you go further into the year you will wish you can have another camp with your class
CCA orientation also falls on this week. Likely the 1st day.
At least this was what we did this year. -

Orientation Week sounds like something DD would enjoy tremendously.
I like the idea of BIC. Sounds really grand. Like the initiation ceremony for joining some cool club. Hahaha… -

Scars to remind one of a beautiful ceremony should not be too bad. Maybe should let her get burnt too. That's how you recognize an RGS girl when not wearing uniform. :rotflmao: -
