Do you wash ground meat?
-
Yeah I actually washed it again just for \"show\"..haha
Just to console myself that it's at least a bit cleaner.

Pen88n, no need to laugh until like dat… that’s not very nice… the idea was meant for those who think it’s better to wash and yet don’t want to lose the taste. Washing does not even kill germs in the first place. You still need to cook it thoroughly.
In fact, I really don’t think we need to wash the ground meat at all. -
I guess u dont wash it in the water… Just quick rinse will do. That’s What I do.

sometimes I wash them just to find a lot of fats floating on the water, very unhealthy to consume, best is to ask the butcher to get a lean piece wash then grind…

Cherrygal, no offence meant. Didn't know similies might convey wrong impression.....I (and a lot of other forummers) always use that one in the PSLE thread and so far no one mind. Maybe we are not so sensitive to such similies as we always laugh at ourselves and others.Pen88n, no need to laugh until like dat... that's not very nice... the idea was meant for those who think it's better to wash and yet don't want to lose the taste. i dun buy minced meat from butcher or supermarket cos as my mum would say, its better to buy the fillet and blend/mince it ourselves. Cos they might have added unwanted parts such as the intestines and fats into it which you can’t pick out.
i normally buy whole chicken and blend with fresh corn kernels, and freeze individual portions for baby. Same for pork fillet - i blend with onions and garlic and water chestnut and freeze. Adds natural taste and texture (chestnut) to baby’s porridge without using sauce. -

Smilies are fine but that roll on the floor smiley is not suitable when the post was not meant to be a joke... It's like your boss laughing at your idea at a brainstorming meeting... maybe I \"felt\" too much from your rolling guy.
No worries.

Your baby is very lucky, prata queen! Lots of love go into that pot of porridge.

Thanks for the compliment. It makes me very happy when my baby finishes all his dinner.
Off-topic - I think I was too enthusiastic in sharing on freezing baby food when the topic is on washing of ground meat. -
I don wash meat that i defrost as i believe freezing kills lots of bacteria. I remember reading abt a famous chef who claims that he never washes his chicken befor cookin, because if the germs can survive e cooking process, e chicken, even washed or not washed, cannot b eaten.
