Yes Choco05, leave some surprises for the new Year 1s to experience for themselves. It'll be even more exciting. šŸ™‚

To all the year 1s, you'll definitely have a lot of fun during Orientation Week. And the parents too. You'll be beaming with pride. šŸ™‚
Are there CCA trials for all the Core CCAs in RGS? Even for uniformed groups?

There are CCA trials for every CCA, UG included. For merit CCAs and some clubs & societies i think proposal/portfolio submission is enough.

There's about...450 pupils a batch? And the interesting things won't be interesting if i told you now! Try to find some on your own. We had our sec 2 seniors writing on our whiteboards on like how to create a changing room in the class and stuff liddat. Look for them:D

Hahaha okok(: umm what are the CCA trials for Guides like cos I think I would be most likely joining guides..
I heard it's different for everyone. My friend said she got a random question like 'if you had a million dollars what would you do with it?' and the standard questions like \"why do you want to join guides?\"

Mine was stuff like what do you know about guides and what you want to achieve in it. Besides Chinese Orchestra, Guides is probably the biggest CCA. We took in around 25 sec 1s this year, and you should have seen the loong guides photo we took šŸ˜„ šŸ˜„

I think 2012's yr 1 girls and Mummies are very chatty. This thread has perhaps never been as active as now! :rotflmao:

Orientation week basically starts when you go to school, and lasts for a week. There's an overnight stay camp on the last 2 days. It features performances put up by the year 1s on the last day(likely a Saturday)and parents can go and see it!

Orientation week is like this week to teach the new Sec 1s our famous Raffles Cheers, introduction to Houses, School song, class bonding and nice stuff like that:) Oh those are the days!~

You will be given a programme booklet that includes a school map(trust me you need it  )and the facilities, plus timetables for each day.

The reason for not being allowed to wear the blouse+pinafore is that you are not considered as an RGS girl fully until the Badge Initiation Ceremony (likely to be on a Friday).

The BIC is nice. You will finally be given the RGS school badge and you get to light up nice candles and sing and it's basically very cool! There will also be games, be it inter-house games or class ones. It's for you to bond with your class! Preparing for the play/performance is cool too.

This might sound frightening to a shy person(i was one) especially the camp but really as you go further into the year you will wish you can have another camp with your class šŸ™ šŸ™ šŸ™

CCA orientation also falls on this week. Likely the 1st day.

At least this was what we did this year.

Sounds great! My daughter will definitely enjoy the days. Thanks a lot!

Sounds Like Fun to ME Too!
