Hi, yes I am from 6F. So far among the 18 people I have asked, 9 of them are going to RGS. One of my classmates DSAed to MGS and another DSAed to SCGS. So far from my class, other than RGS and NYGH, not many applied to other schools.[/quote]

Tks for yr reply, I guess yr friend must either be in band or choir to get into MGS, I understand their niche area is music. Do U hv any idea what SCGS is looking out for during DSA, are they looking at the marks the girl scored in P5 or the CCA cos I dont know their niche area.
Just wondering,,,, I notice that not many Raffles girls apply for SCGS, are chances of getting in slim?? Tks 😄

SCGS' niche area is dance. Quite difficult to get in.

Hi P6 parents/students, just wonder how RGPS Prelim results vs PSLE T-score? This will give us a good gauge of the standards for both exams. Thanks.

              Eg. 360/400 vs 270
              270/300 vs 270 or
              270 vs 270

              Or

Eg. Prelim is 10 marks higher or
              PSLE is 8 marks higher..

I also want to know that.

I'm quite curious, what are the girls' average SA1 and SA2 marks of those who got 260 and above in PSLE?

How many GEP classes does RGPS take in?

Some one quoted that the number of students scoring 4 A* and 3A* is a substantial number of around 120+ students. Do they come mainly from the GEP classes or is it a good spread?

How is that RGPS is able to produce significantly so many more 4/3A* and not other schools say like a neighbourhood school?
Is it because the kids there are smarter? smarter parents?
                  more parental supervision ?
better resources allocated to the school? better teachers? etc?
It’s little wonder that many parents fight tooth n nail, cost an arm or a leg just to squeeze their precious daughters there.

It would be interesting to know the critical success factors of this school.

There is chinese idiom “天时,地利,人和”. This is the success factors.

You can find more details about RGPS' mainstream and GEP contribution to PSLE result. My feeling to the school is: RGPS is a good school who takes care all her stundents.

No issue of resource allocation within the same school itself, as they share the same resources. The issue is one of better spread of the good factors to other institutions.

If that's the case that RGPS takes care of all her students, maybe the CSF can spillover to as many other schools as possible so that ALL students stand equal a chance (at least ensure good spread of teachers to other schools) . Parents then need not face the pressure of fighting to get a place in these very few good schools.

天时,地利,人和 - loosely translated" right time, right place and right person…am i right?

Ok, if the last point is true, no more issue to talk about as we are looking at the basic material to work on is of certain standard already.
Hence my earlier question, if most of the top scorers come from GEP, no need to query further.

The concern would be where the first two points is on. Right time and right place? This in turn will define and determine my decision on which school to enrol my daughter in when the time comes…
