      girlmum:
Hi, I have been reading the posts at this forum for quite some time. Only regret is that I should start earlier when my girl was doing her PSLE last yr.

If you are staying in the east and wanted a girls school, TKGS would be a good choice. My girl is in sec 1 now and she really enjoys being around with all the girls. It can be slightly stressful at times but overall if a child like the school, others can be overcome by determination.
How about the TK secondary school next to TKGS? TKSS need more aggregate to go in, isn't a better school?
      Please advise

        Hi

Can advise is there a guarantee of the choice of school we opt for? Eg. IF your child score 240 and the cut off point for the following schools are:

Eg. only (not actual cut-off pt)
        1) Anglican High - 243
        2) Ngee Ann Sec - 240
        3) Temasek Sec - 237

IF we place Anglican High as option one, will we get a chance? Meaning, should one definitely have to place a school with lower/same cut off point as one gets? OR can try for schools that have slightly higher cut off point? Of cos we are not talking about a child with 240 applying for school that cuts off at 260.

Thanks in advance for enlightening πŸ™‚

I wanna go Raffles Institution! πŸ˜‰

Need 261 to go to RI :stupid:

          Choices available are:

          Victoria School
Victoria JC (is it true that they are accepting sec 1 students next year?)
          Tanjong Katong Sec
          Chung Cheng
          Temasek Sec
          Geylang Methodist
How would you rank them in order of priority? :?: Thanks in advance.
Victoria School - this is a boy school, but it is not IP to VJC
Victoria JC (is it true that they are accepting sec 1 students next year?) - NO!! VJC get strong objection from VS, so they cannot take in Sec 1 boy. Not sure about girl. They probably can set up VJC girl school
          πŸ˜›
Tanjong Katong Sec - TKGS is better? I think your kid must be a boy
Chung Cheng - Nice environment like Chinese Garden of the East
Temasek Sec - Not very accessable
          Geylang Methodist - isn't this a girl school? :?

              ACS is ok?

But if you can get 14 more marks then go to River Valley High School, this is an IP school, but only need 254 to go in.
              😎

                Hi,

If you stay at Jurong, RVHS and Nan Hua Sec School, which one you prefer to? Anyone can share some comment for these 2 schools? TIA πŸ˜„

hi fxchow, there is thread in the Sec Sch section about RVHS. Here is the link http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2887

Between Nanhua and RVHS, RVHS wins hands down, because it is an IP school. Just like RI, no O level, go straight to A level.

Nan Hua is definitely not in the same league as RV!

                        Thanks CrazyDad,
Mine is a boy. Looking at RI if he scores above 265. If not, these are the choices that I have narrowed down.
Geylang Methodist is a mixed school. Friends whose kids are from that school recommend it. My students went to TKSS and they are also rallying for my son to go there. It seems they really love it. My niece went there too. I always have the idea that if my son go to those Chinese schools like Duman High or Chung Cheng with his weak Chinese, he may have to struggle. Am I thinking too much?
