I saw 基础汉字500 going at $5 each level at John Little Expo sale today. Not sure if this is cheaper than Popular after 20% discount?

                Hi Tamarind and other mummies,

My DD is now in K1 and we are now at Book 3 of Siwukuaidu (SWKD). Does anyone know of any good Chinese readers which can be used to reinforce the words learnt from SWKD? I realized that even at Book 3, it is hard to find a simple Chinese storybook that DD can read out loud all by herself. There are bound to be words that she has not learnt yet and I find it quite disruptive because she will read a few words then pause (cos it’s a word she has not learnt yet) and then read, pause, read, pause…

Is this normal? Do we have to finish Book 6 before DD is able to read most of the words in a storybook? Pardon me if I’m asking a silly question. Thank you.

                  Hi bluepanda,

Basically there are no stories books that can work hand in hand with 四五快读 series. My DS1 completed 四五快读 series by 4yrs and 8mths old and DS2 completed 四五快读 series by 2yrs and 10mths old. Both read alot of chinese stories books and now reading 杨红樱童话 series. Before then, they read books like.
                  1,可爱鼠小弟 -12 books
                  2,不一样的卡海拉纪念版 - 10 books
                  3,排排队系列 - 6 books
                  4,青蛙和蟾蜍 - 4 books
                  5,我爱阅读丛书 - 40 books
                  6,鸡蛋哥哥 - 4 books
                  7,影响孩子一生的情商故事 - 15 books
                  8,我爱数学童话系列 - 12 books
                  9,我爱科学童话系列 - 12 books
1O,can’t remember the title but it is 酉游记

                  etc

Initially DS1 reads very slow but i am patient. There will be bound to have words that the child will be unfamiliar. As an adult, i do encounter some words that i am not familiar or have forgotten (as i am not so fluent with mandarin) and so i tend to be forgiving. Since they are so young, i don’t stress them so much about not recognising the words but more on enjoying and love chinese reading. Because i am looking at stamina and loving literacy at the end of the day. Hope this helps.

Hi, in case any mommy interested in the 四五快读 series. I just saw the whole 7 books of this in CCK popular and some 笑猫日记. Popular at West Mall has closed, replace by another bookshop. I just noticed today when I went to West Mall.
