Do you think 2 years old are too young to join childcare?
-
I placed my kids at the age of 18 months in childcare. Tough choices and the kids do fall sick from time to time.
Visits to the doctor seems weekly at times but their immunity is better now. I find taking fish oil do help in building up their immunity.
Hope this helps. -

My 2+ years old gal has been falling sick every month once she join childcare and the doctor has concluded that she's too young to join childcare centre? What do you think?
hi, have you checked with other parents whether other todlers are also falling sick regularly? It could be the school environment, and maybe lack of hygiene practice. *This is something we can control, or at least highlight to school.
Beside environment, it is very easy for kids to get contaminated from each other through close proximity. This, unfortunately, we cannot control.
* We have to rely on parents to be responsible, and keep their sick child at home :stupid:
I got two kids who started at infantcare from 2months. -

It’s not the age that matters but how strong is the child immunity system. My dd was put in childcare since 2.5 years old. She’s often get sick easily. Even after she grew up to 4 years old, she was still sick. I pulled her out of childcare and put her in half day kindergarten when she turned 5. The frequent illness stop.
Ds was put in childcare since 1.5 years old. No issues on falling sick often.
Don’t just get feedback from teacher. Try to drop by and be around during tea time (about 3.30pm). You will see how many runny nose children are in the centre and how the children are taught to clean themselves up. -
I put my son in CC since he was 18mths. He did not fall sick as often as you all mentioned.
So far his illnesses are very mild cough/flu which goes away after 1-2 days without medication. Only 2-3 times were serious bouts, but it was because me & hb were sick, not from school.
It depends largely on your child’s immmunity before sending him/her to CC. I started organic/natural supplements (mostly herbs) 3-4 months before he started CC & his teachers also commented that he seldom fall sick compared to the other kids. -

vfong1, have you read this thread on supplements for children yet?

We started off with when he was around 1yo:
ChildLife Colostrum
Scott's Cod Liver Emulsion
Now he's taking:
Colostrum (another brand cos it's cheaper & just as effective)
Fish Oil (from deep sea fishes, can't rmb the brand off hand)
Liquid Multi-Vit (made from natural ingredients, also suppose to help increase his appetite)
Sambucol (only when he's showing some symptoms or signs of falling sick soon)
I buy my boy's vitamins from here: http://www.iherb.com
They have intl shipping to SG. Much cheaper than SG after adding shipping. Esp for ChildLife products (go to GNC for price comparison).
Can use YAF688 to get US$5 off your first order
If you want, can tompang my order. I order every fornight. His organic shampoo/soap/lotion are all purchased from the above website too.
By the way, a good diet also helps. I'm very fussy about what my boy eats & it does help too (cos some months I'll stop all the supplements to let his body take a break, he's still strong :)) -

Hi.
Both my children attended childcare when they are around 20 months.
I don't think your daughter is too young to start childcare.
In fact I think she is at a suitable age to join and trust me she will learn things faster too.
