I don't think it'll impact IP schools as much as the top O level schools such as SCGS, MGS, SNGS, CHS etc.

I think with VS offering IP, COP for DHS could be slightly lowered.

Are both VS and DHS in the East? Then possibly.

A very close friend of mine got 258 wishes the COP drops coz she put RGS as first choice and wishes to get in.

Hi all - What is the lowest successful COP that has been admitted to RGS and on what basis? My DD has 245+2 and I am thinking of appealing… Can I ? Waste of time?

Is there any thread speculating on the COP for NYGS?

My dd scored 259+3. All of us are so worried that she may not be able to make it as it is a borderline case. We are hoping that it will drop by one point.

I also understand that it is tough to get a place via appeals unless dd or ds is actively involved in CCAs.

Anybody has any ideas? Care to share?

I agree that RGS COP will be ard 260-261. Same theory as jtoh - No change to EESIS COP. Interesting point by ycpang iro inference from top 10%.


VCA-VJC IP intakes are so small - ard 90 each? Probably have some minimal impact to DHS - closest IP to be impacted. IMHO, the Raffles and HC IPs not much impact even when IPs open up to top 30%, cos ultimate JC remains the premium RI (JC) and HCI (JC). Plus parents are usually skeptical to put kids as guinea pigs esp those IPs with new JC sections.

Does your dd have an exceptional talent in terms of CCA or academics? Like a gold medallist at national sports meets? If so, you can give it a try. If not, based purely on PSLE t-score of 245, your chances would be very very low. Your +2 bonus points don't apply in RGS.

Half of the places have been taken via DSA. Besides the 'RGS vs NYGH which is better' factor, another factor affecting S1 COP for NYGH is its affiliated girls. If I am not wrong, NYPS quality passes this year ie PSLE score 250 n above remains ultra high - usually more than 40%+++ to nearly half of cohort. So depends on how many NYPS girls score between 250 (including 247+3/248+2/249+1) to 259 (including 256+3/257+2/258+1). These girls naturally will likely choose their affiliated NYGH. If number of NYPS girls scoring this range and opting for NYGH increases, of course the seats for S1 posting for rest of public decreases. So NYGH COP depends on more factors, not so straightforward like RGS which has no affiliated primary school. But 259+3 is a really good score! If can't get in via S1, try appeal and pray that some seats will be given up after S1 posting results. All the best! :rahrah:

Agreed with Snow Crystal. This year, NYPS announced that 46% of its cohort scored 250 and above - higher than last year. This will definitely impact the available vacancies after the affiliation has taken up. My own personal opinion (please do not :spank: me) is that the COP for NYGH may remain at 262 or may even increase by 1-2 points due to this influx of NYPS affiliation.


As for VS impacting DHS's COP, VS intake is small at 90 and already half taken up by DSA. Moreover, DHS is a mixed sec school, and with the girls scoring better than boys for PSLE, and most of the girls who can't make it to RGS / NYGH will also choose NJC / DHS, the possibility of DHS COP lowering is also very minimal. This is only a personal opinion, so please do not hold me accountable for any discrepancies.

Parents, your kid and you have all put in your sec school choices. We hope they get in their 1st / 2nd choice. In the case whereby they do not, it is not the end of the world. We have to teach them to accept reality (which we have to face it ourselves) and move on with life. Just like the day when the PSLE results are released, there will be happy and disappointing moments when the posting results are released. The kids have their expectations, and we parents have to teach them (and ourselves) how to manage it and move on even when they do not get what they want.

Life is not about getting into RI / RGS / HCI / NYGH. Those who do not make it to these schools can also excel and meet the frens from these schools in JCs or Uni. What is most important is not to lose the motivation and the initiative to learn, just because of a little disappointment.
