hi mummies, can anyone help me on this:

      1. what is the easiest and fastest way to wash vegetables? Can i wash the night before?
      2. thermal pot - anyone uses the takahi brand? are they good and how long usually can they keep warm for? Am thinking of cooking the soup from about 1pm, by the time hubby comes back is about 8pm…
      3. for meat marination - like pork chop - can i cut and marinate the night before?

      Thanks so much!!!

when i change the quilt cover, i have to tie the 4 corners of the quilt to the loop of the quilt cover. but its difficult to make it straight. sometimes can match wrong corners to wrong loop, or the quilt tends to be a lump inside the cover

        1) First, spread the duvet cover on the bed (correct position)
        2) Position the quilt over the cover to ensure the length and breath is equal, then insert as accordingly.
        3) Try not to tie the strings to the loop too tight.

Alternatively, you can use big safety pins to pin the 4 corners. (I personally don't like this idea though).

Lumps in quilt can be the cause of the cotton in the quilt itself. After several wash can cause lumps.

Hi Fifiyeo, so is the Spin and Mop from Homefix really good to use? Dont need to bring the pail around, and no drips?

          Thanks

Can't remember exactly what the brand since they got different types at Homefix. But it's the one with the orange outer bucket and stainless steel spin bucket.

No drips and painless since no need to squeeze that dirty mop dry with your own hands. Sometimes my 6yr old will use it to help me mop the stairs but I'll have to change the water since its too heavy for him.

I don't move the pail around. I leave it in the toilet and walk go to and fro from there whenever I need to rinse the mop.

if u are not particular abt a certain amt of loss of vitamins, i think its ok to cut veg or marinate meat the nite before. of cos, its fresher to cut and cook on the spot but if really no time, can do before i suppose, so long they are refrigerated after cutting.

i also stimes cut the veg in the morning to cook at afternoon.

i use thermal pot but la gourmet but i think any brand ok

                24hr-mum:
i hv a condenser dryer ie no need tube, but it seem to take more thn 3hr to dry full load. i jus got an electrolux edf 705 ventg dryr. got tube but can dun attach. electrolux hv iron aid dryer supp to make clothes crease free n avoid irong but $1599 so nvr buy

Does that mean the dryer can place in any other room since no need tube?

How much did you get for this electrolux condenser dryer? Can buy from where? dryer need to maintain a not?

Washing machine need to maintain once a month with those washing machine powder to prevent dirt in the drum.

If can place else where, is good, as kitchen too many things, so no space. Husband keeps saying want to get a dryer...

i was using condenser dryer bcos it doesnt need a tube. but i find that becos it uses cold air, takes longer to dry. its a sensor dryer, so if its half load, if dryer cant sense the clothes cos not enuf clothes, i think may take longer.

so i changed to the electrolux VENTING dryer whc is like normal dryer, uses hot air and shorter drying time. but the new electrolux EDV705 dryer is different becos there is a vent in front of the dryer, so u choose to put the tube or dont put the tube. that means u can place in a rm but preferably wf window otherwise u can feel the hot air and condensation on the walls. tis model has anti creaser and a buzzer that sounds when dryer is done. u can choose sensor model or chose the duration of drying. u can also tilt the directn of the vent to be towards the window.
anti crease means if u forget to off the dryer when its ready, the dryer will keep tumbling the clothes for 3 hrs to prevent the clothes from creasg.

venting dryer is shorter time, takes 2 hrs or so to dry a full load. for my model there is a button that lights up to remind u to clean the filter each time after each load. just take out the filter to peel off the lint. v simple. if u dont do it, over time it will take longer to dry the same load of clothes

i got a question, for washer, what the diff between quick wash and the normal full wash cycle?

                      Hi 24-hr mum,

Can I check if the dryer increases the electricity bills significantly as compared to pre-dryer days?

For my front-load washer, the quick wash is just 29mins while my full cycle wash is 1hr 5mins. Quick wash - cannot have very full load, cannot go beyond 30degrees temp, spinning less dry, stains may not come out. Normal cycle - full load OK, can go to 60degrees in temp (to kill mites), quite dry after spinning, clothes with stains look cleaner.
