        HI ALL,

I heard of Learning Lab, Learning Point, but not TAS. What does it stand for? I tried to goggle "TAS" but nothing educational came up. I am a desperate mummy of a 6 yr old who is going to Pri 1 next year. He can’t write for nuts and he failed his assessment test at Learning Point. (Shucks!!).

They apparently could not take in students with poor spelling and grammar. Learning Lab wants to know his score in English before taking him in. I dont think he would make the cut, and even if he did, he will struggle as he will be the bottom of the LL class.
… so I am interested in TAS. Can anyone please tell me what does it stand for?

fret not. actually having assessment/diagnosis test may not be a bad thing coz it enables the school to identify the standard of the child and put him/her in the appropriate class 🙂 all the best.

Yes, an assessment helps the centre to know which class is more suitable for your child. In TAS, they try their best to help your child even if your child is rather weak, for my friend’s kid who was struggling, they got her to come for another lesson in the week (she went for 2 lessons) and she was asked to pay only half the fees for the add on lesson, they say they do this for weaker students and they attend that second lesson for about a month or so to help them to ‘over-learn’ - drill more and get them up to standards.

But if you child really cannot fit the class and does badly for assessment, it is better if the centre tells you, then you do not waste money trying something that does not suit your child.

                  Hi,

Anyone knows which popular outlet sells the vocab book? My friend is trying to get their book, she went to Tampines Mall and Bras Basah outlets but could not find it.

For vocab book, you can go thru with your child and make sure they get the slight difference in meaning eg- reserved, indifferent, withdrawn- for the first chapter…and then test them on their understanding and also see if they know how to use it. I came up with extra sentences following the exercise to get my child to be more familiar with the usage of the word.

For compo, you can follow the strategies outlined and get your child to write. For compo, I dont do much, I depend on TAS to help.
