                g) any more other schools with info on:-

                - number or percentage of A / A*, by each subject ?

                - number of pupils or percentage score > 250 ?

                - average or mean psle score achieved in school ?

                - percentage of P6 passes, making it to Secondary 1 Express stream ?
How come Rulang % above 250 so low considering their % for express is so high and no of 4A*s also quite high ?

the reference to 16% come from here :-

                  http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=4406&start=1900

ChannelNewsAsia report that Rulang has achieved quality pass:-

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gQ6xGN8YaU

as for percentage of P6 passes able to enter into Secondary 1 Express stream, parents all helped chip in effort to report:-

                  Rulang
                  90.5% to express

                  Nan Hua
                  88.3% to express

                  Maha Bodhi

16% does appear low. If 16% is correct which I hope not, there is one possible reason - that the school focuses on the top class only. I hope this is not correct.

I have this feeling when the school had 34 4A* students last year. Out of those 34, 29 were from the top class. There are 40 students in one class and 29 (about 75%) scored 4A*! Wow! Only 5 are from other classes. This could mean that the school has focused alot on this top class. This is reinforced by the fact that the average T score for Rulang last year is about mid 210 (consider low to average?) while some of the other top schools are above 220 for average T-score. I heard a couple of the top schools have an average T-score of close to 230 or exceed 230 last year. The above fgures are all based on 2010 PSLE.

My nephew graduated from Rulang two years ago has confirmed that the top class has more drilling as compared to the other classes. My nephew said that, for example, one month before PSLE, he had to 10 worksheets (few pages each) to do as homework on a daily basis while the top class got that amount of worksheets two months before PSLE. 10 worksheets sound scary. I also hope that my nephew has remembered it wrongly. 🙂

But nevertheless, Rulang has done very well in producing these top students. And looks like drilling really works! 🙂

Looking at the above statistics, it seems to me that the GEP pupils have helped to 'pump' up the % by at least 15% ?? IMO, if we really want to compare, perhaps it's fairer to compare apple vs apple ie. mainstream students only. :skeptical:

                        agree.

great if can separate out Mainstream data from GEP.
                        in fact our target, separate.
also prefer focus more on Mainstream - bec majority of our kids in Mainstream.

unfortunately, parents often find hard to get detailed info.
can only do … with whatever info gathered so far.
