        interesting question

but then this pass / merit / distinction only gives you 1 / 2 / 3 extra points only and if you apply to SAP sec school, else the extra points is useless

and the extra points is max 3 only ...... not as if they give you 30 points !

The additional points carries weight only for SAP school applicaitons. I guess maybe it comes in handy in mariginal cases where 2 kids score similar score, then the school may use HMT as a guide to decide who to offer the place to?

I am deciding whether to let my ds continue with HMT, and no feel at all where her standard is…so wondering what is the equivalent marks for the respective dist/merit/pass.

the system that does the S1 posting is blind and will add the HCL scores automatically if a SAP school is one of the choices

the school will recommend whether to drop or continue with HCL at the end of P4 briefing

              If i am not wrong,

              50 - 69, pass
              70 - 79, merit
              above 80, distinction

the band for merit is the odd one out - not consistent with the band for pass & distinction

                any reason ?

Taking HCL gives bonus points in o levels.

BTW, when scholarship boards ask for your PSLE score, do we need to add in bonus points from HCL? ty
