I wrote out some types of maths questions that may trip kids initially.
Like,
8 is __ more than 5.
12 is 5 less than __.
__ is 7 more than 3. And other variations which I cannot recall now hee.
And, 6+5=__ -3. It's quite common for kids to just fill in the blank with 11, without even glancing at the -3 part.
Which means it's useful to teach our dc HOW TO CHECK, esp for maths. Strategies like working backwards probably have to be demonstrated lah. -
