Hi welcome to this thread!
Which school will you be registering your elder child?
Kheng Cheng is an ok school and is very near my new place (moving over next year) but prefer Kuo Chuan cos it's a missionary school (we're Christians).
any comments on these 2 schools, any1? -

I quite concern when you say peps < 50% goes to express stream? Is this the recent psle results? Or the past recent years results?
I am planning to reg my Daughter to peps next year 2012 as i am an old girl. Many ppl told me is s good school. -
if < 50% is true, as a parent i’ll be worried naturally.
verify & confirm facts first - check up past 3 to 5 yr psle results.
since you’re old girl - you can obtain insider news from your alumni, or from active parents volunteer. attend forthcoming future alumni parents gathering. network with parents whose kids go before you.
ask around - esp. those with kids from Upper primary level, or parents with kids who had already finished psle, but who’re still very active & linger on within the alumni / parent volunteer teams. you’ll discover the truth. -

This is super worrying and why most of the reply I see in the forum tells me is a good school? I don't recall PEPS has Alumni or Parent Volunteers. Do u know how and where can I get the information? Any website that i go to or do i have to call the school? Thanks for the info. -

hi gekkhim,
If your child is good with learning, I don’t think you should be bothered by what the average is. What OUR kids score will be based on what WE do at home. Teachers play a part, yes; but parents (I feel) will play a more significant role in influencing what befalls the young child.
Eg, if one was to put his child in the top top school but yet fail to do anything with the child (read to the child, provide materials etc), I don’t think it’s anything surprising if the child doesn’t do well.
My neighbour’s kid was in a neighbourhood school that sure have vacancy even after phase 2C. He didn’t have tuition/enrichment at all during his years. But yet, this child managed to top his school and go to RI with a score that many of those who paid top dollars to premier enrichment classes couldn’t hope to reach. I didn’t have the courage to send my kids to that school so I worked a bit harder and got them into another. Time will tell if my efforts pan out - but for now, I’m pretty glad that this other school stresses more on moral and character development than academic grades. I can worry about that when they are in upper primary; for now, I just hope to ingrain in them what is right and moral. -
Just want to make sure no one misunderstand this Parent Volunteer (PV) of PEPS.
This PV is actually PSG (Parent Support Group). It is volunteers make up of parents of existing students studying in PEPS. It is not the same PV scheme as in Primary School Registration Exercise. -
Is there a club for parents who have children studying in 2 different schools? I’m thinking of sending my kids to girls and boys school. Need to hear from other parents if the logistics are crazy.
