S94 in Sec 3 next year? That's like 17/18 years old right? I imagine they must be China or other foreign PRs converted to SG citizens? Otherwise why would they be so old?

Ya, PRC scholars usually shine in these Olympiads because of their age advantage and also because the content they learnt in China is more advanced than ours.

I am not too sure about that. But I know that the selection and registration are done thru the schools. For example, if your child is in RA (Chemistry) then it is compulsory for them to participate in the Chemistry Olympiad.

chinese dictionary, my son uses the e-dict he had from primary school.

english dictionary - Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English (publisher: Pearson) - this is included in his Y1 booklist.
