after Christmas is new year .... wishing everyone a MERRY X'MAS and a
BLESSED New Year !
:rahrah:
next year 2012 P6 cohort happen to be born in the popular auspicious zodiac year of the Dragon (ie. born in 2000). Many powerful Phoneix girls from RGPS will emerge ... -
Hi, anyone here staying at Bukit Panjang/CCK/Diary Farm would like to share a cab with my daughter going to RGPS next year? Morning session.
Please PM me for arrangement, I will source a regular cab driver (most likely female), so that our girls don’t need to wake up more than 2 hours before school starts.
Thank you. -
Hi,
I am also looking for potential cab-sharing to the school in 2012 when my girl will go on to morning session.
If any RGPS parents here stay at Sengkang/Buangkok/Punggol area and would like to potentially do cab-sharing, please kindly let me know. I have a neighbour whom is a cab-driver and I will try to source for a regular cab from him.
Hopefully this will materialise then our girls might not have to wake up at 5+am…Many thanks.
Rgds,

1. if 1 way taxi in the morning and return by school bus, you still need to pay 80% of the fare + $20 for CCA bus
2. if both ways taxi easily more than $500/mth (+ midnight charge b4 6am or perk hour charge after 6am) depending on location
3. best way to look for students to share the cab is to ask those from the same school bus, let them try for a month a get to know the ppl in the bus and get their parents' contact
4. for sharing cab coming back will be different timing coz of CCA and HMT
5. need to have a backup plan if driver fall sick or go holiday
6. for sharing cab what if the other party back off?
Actually i was looking for at least 3 or if possible 4 around my area since P1 time but after few months of trying i gave up.... one of the main reason is most of them moved to somewhere near to the school.... -
hi ksp and ctc6lt,
Many thanks for your kind sharing
I have actually thought of approaching my girl's school bus friends and put this suggestion to their parents. But I also do not want to incur the unhappiness of the school bus driver. He will definitely find out if suddenly some of his students all switch to 1-way bus.
I am only thinking of morning via cab as like what you correctly mentioned, afternoon timing will be difficult to coordinate, especially with CCA, Higher Chinese and other arrangements....
I have also explored the alternative of taking public transport, but from my place all-in it will take about 1-hour to reach the school, with changes to train lines, bus required....Then might as well let the girl have an easier trip via school bus, then let her have breakfast in school.
Any idea what time does the school canteen vendors start operating? Especially those that serve morning snacks/breakfast etc?
Thanks

From what i know the driver’s salary does not depend only on school trip and also not the number students in the bus. The bus is also used for fetching workers after they have dropped off the students. The driver may be happier to have lesser students in the bus.
Based on my experience, not many parents like the idea of alternate transportation other then the school bus.
The nearest MRT for now is Bontanic Garden but still need to take a bus and alight in front HCI then cross the overhead bridge. It may be a problem on a rainy day.
Some stalls already operating when my dd reaches school at 6.45am. -

Thanks for your advice again.
Usually if the girls reach around 6.45am, where will they go? Canteen? In case they want to do some silent reading but would think it’s still dark around that time?
Can share what time does your girl get on the school bus?
Thanks. -

Basketball court or canteen and usually together with friends. They are no longer P1 so they know where to go.
