Rich dad poor dad:
一种米养百种人 difference people hv the diffrence thinking ....only the people always be contented will live happily . :imcool:Sorry but I can't understand why parents still unhappy that their kid got >255+. While we want the best out from our children...We, as parents have to understand the pressure that the child is facing. Not only you are putting pressure on yourself...the child is the one that suffer the most under your expectation. We need to remember this. Good school doesn't mean your kids will be a top achiever in life.
My personal experience: I'm a normal technical student back in my old schooling days....Now, I'm a master degree holder and hold a much much better job than any express class student. -
NUS High OAS Website shows my DS’ Application status pending,
When I inquired NUS Admission office, they mention that they had some info from MOE and the result will be informed only on 21st Dec 2011…I had confirmed that the results of NUS high will not affect S1 Posting.
Do anyone encounter similar experience … -

May be I am not good in words that I make my DW sound like a tiger mom but in actual fact she is not. She pushed my DS hard but also give him lots of liberty in doing what he likes eg learning piano, soccer, computer games etc. We are very happy with his result and we just hope that he can go into the IP stream and the school of his choice.
Yes, another 5 days to go… -

Don't worry, we understand your DW is not a tiger mum and we know you are happy and proud of his result. This forum is for us to air out, share and llls (lor li lor so) haha so don't be too bothered by what others think/interpret of your posts. Joe, I also apologize if my post sound rather hush...I just hope to bring across a message that we, as parent, need to be happy as long we know that we did the best we can in supporting the child development...don't put too much pressure on the kid and ourself...education is only part of their future development...not everything...eg, let them learn to be street smart is also a form of education....do have a good weekend ahead and may your wish come true on Wednesday morning!....May be I am not good in words that I make my DW sound like a tiger mom but in actual fact she is not. Rich dad poor dad:
:grphug: You have been through an alternative route and make good now. So you know why all these emphasis on entering good IPs may not be worthwhile. Thus, do continue to share your experiences and alternative views to the KSPs to balance our KS views haha...

Joe0599, I don't think your DW is a tiger mum, more like she is a responsible great mum who may feel \"pressurized\" by external comments and worried if she has done enough for her kid. You just have to assure her that she and your DS have both done their best. Results will come in the form of a confident young man with good character, attitude and upbringing in years to come (and by then, academic excellence may not be as important as other aspects).May be I am not good in words that I make my DW sound like a tiger mom but in actual fact she is not. I think that it is positive that your DW has chosen to shoulder the major part of the disappointment herself. This has the effect of buffering your son from the very big disappointment of possibly not getting into his dream school.May be I am not good in words that I make my DW sound like a tiger mom but in actual fact she is not. This year, with the terrible stress of P5, I often do that too. If the results are worse than expected, I tell my DS that it is my fault because if I had wanted to, I could have pushed him harder... or that I had chosen the wrong practice activity. In today's system where there is a GAP between the tested and the taught, it REALLY is partially my fault, you see.
I think it is very brave of your wife to step up and shoulder the blame of what she knows will disappoint your son. If she does not do so, your son will feel the possible failure to achieve his goal even more keenly... and he is only 12.

I wish you all the best and hope that your DS CAN get into his dream school. If this doesn't materialise, I have every confidence that your DS will achieve something in life because he has a family like yours to see him through the bad times. > 255+ is still a great score though!! -
all the best to all parents & kids, posting will be out next week. just sharing, whatever school posted, there is always opportunity to excel if kids are properly motivated and have good family support. Those that are well informed will know , even in many of the top corporations ( public & private sector) there are many C-level, MDs, Ds that came from humble neighborhood schools i.e. Gan Eng Seng, Ghim Moh, Monkhills, Katong Convent, TKGS etc.
It is not about reaching the end point (secondary) and also not a race. It’s only just the beginning of a long journey towards life-long goals. Pls give 200% support and continue to motivate with unconditional love to your love ones….
