how much is the px range for those who bgt at century piano? they quoted v high, like a 20+ yr old MC series (not U1), at $5k+, kawai 14 yr old at $6k. they said the price is higher than other 2nd hand shop cos they hv 10 yrs instd of 5yrs gurantee (not warranty). we din bargain cos the asking price is alr more than 50% higher than others (eg a 20+ U1 is selling at ard $3k in most shops)…we also realise that they tend to "lower" the age of the piano, eg both sets of kawai they had then was abt 14 yr old, but they claimed that both are less than 10yr.

            Hi,

Recently went to yamaha and the sales person mentioned that it’s no point getting a 2nd piano that is more than 15 years is it true?

If having a budget of about $3000+ for U1, how old will the piano be?

Lastly, any trustworthy shops selling second hand piano to recommend?

i bought mine at $4500. according them, they got the pianos from japan direct & not from local sellers. i did went to some shops with cheaper range ($3k+) but the inside not so nice lo, abit rusty… my hubby didnt mind paying a bit more if the quality is good.

anyway so far the piano is doing well.
as for the serial numbers, i did my own check online & it tallied with wat the salesperson told me… & they have a book to show me the serial numbers… so i was sold! hahaha…

                Hi Goody Girl,

Is it true that a piano that is more than 15 years are not recommended? The Yamaha sales person also told me that in general second piano are from japan and the woods are not tropicalized, unless those sold in singapore are specially for our weather. really wonder how true are these?

anyone else are welcome to provide feedbacks. Thanks!

hi checkered, i dunno if its true tat a piano above 15yrs is not recommended.. but when i went to yamaha during my shopping period, i remember asking them: \" how long can a piano last?\" (i mean a new piano from them) their answer was \"oh 30- 40yrs also no problem\" hahaha.. so i was thinking why they turn ard & say dun buy above 15yrs... 😛

anyway after i bought mine.. i got to know tat my hubby's colleague bought from them too. (7-8yrs ago!) but they bought theirs in the old address at daimaru.. i saw their piano b4 during hse warming.. i didnt think it looked used 😛 think its a kawai

Yes, theirs are from japan too but piano shipped to singapore are using tropicalized wood if you buy directly from them.
