I believe subjects like Math can be improved within 11 months. So don’t give up!! My student failed her Math in prelims and she managed to pass her Math in PSLE. Of course, she has really intensive Math lessons with me. Twice a week and two hours each. Sometimes even up to 3 hours! She has such good concentration!

Many factors converged to help me cope with work and DD-PSLE but that is another story - really too boring to share …

I totally agree with you. That's why I'm here in kiasuparents. Feels that school doesn't teach enough and test them more than what they've learnt in school. I can't afford tuition for 2 kids as $$ already spent on piano lessons so need to coach them myself. Also, I've a baby to take care. I'm fighting for time and energy now. Really appreciate the comments you input here. Your words to me are as good as gold.

Yes, maths is about practice, being careful and having right strategies...and a good coach/tutor as well. My son is having twice weekly sessions with his tutor which started 1 week after SA2 this year.

Trying to get my son to move into 1st gear this week, 2nd or 3rd next week...teachers will not be allowing any honeymoon at P6.

Some days I really wonder if I'm a crazy mum who has to put in so much for my DS when so many other mums I know are just breezing through PSLE. Now I know I'm not and it's really not DS who faces problems with schoolwork.

Yes, MOE is expecting a lot, so they push principals, HODs, teachers and then we the parents suffer. The amount taught in schools is very superficial...just tip of iceberg. Yet the questions in exam papers are demanding so much more. It's just plain crazy.

Chenonceau, you still awake at 530am ? Of late whenever I close my eyes, the stress of P6 pops up in my head...have to take more Vit C to boost my immunity...can feel myself getting body aches.

Yes, PSLE2011mum has echoed what is in our minds...we have to stand in the gap for our children, or else nobody will. Our kids at 11+ going 12 is not mature enough to bridge the gap on their own. I don't want to think of the money to be spent on son's tuition next year either.

Kekekekeke! I tend to wake up naturally at about 4.30 or 5.

I like this notion of standing in the gap. This image completely captures what I have been trying very hard to do but did not know how to say. Thank you psle2011mum for giving words to our malaise.
