The sch gives out booklets (diff subj hv diff no. of booklets in A4 size, Maths has a few booklets for diff topics, some subj do not hv booklets). Maths & HMT has recommended textbooks for use in classroom(btw dun buy the HMT workbooks, ours were not used at all). Some subj hv recommended reading reference books.Huh? Only 2 textbooks each year? For all subjects?
Die die, DS is so disorganised. Always losing notes even in Primary school. No books, just depend on notes sure die

1) Do you advise to purchase the Maths textbook and any of the recommended ref books?
2) If HMT workbook is not used, will the sch gives the students other HMT worksheets?
3) How many exams do yr 1 have and when will that be? -

Every topic has around 1-3 homework sets (depends). And the questions
are gotten from the Math textbook. They will write : eg. Page 151, qn 4
And are required to be handed in.
Yes, the sch will give out worksheets like comprehension cloze & open ended, MCQs, cloze passage, etc. And some notes. I have never used my HMT workbooks before.
The assessment curriculum is different from other schs. Every module there will be assessments that add up to 100% of the grade. Eg. a quiz that takes up 10% of the grade, a group project presentation that takes up 20%, a group debate that takes 25%, an individual essay for 15%, and so on. But for subjects like Math, it's mostly individual tests instead of group projects like the other subjects. Sec 1s have a lot of group works, as compared to sec 2s.
Hope this helps

He did not mention the rubric. During the then on-going swimming sessions, I asked him if there were any teachers assessing their performance, he told me the PE teacher was not at the swimming pool. Even the last swimming session, there was not swim test whatsoever.
I believe we shld get to the bottom of this, for the benefit of next year JH2 or other outsourced PE courses for our children in future.
If you know of any other parents having similar concerns, pls rally them to make enquiries with the sch.
