Maybe there is this thing called \"buyers' regret\". At that moment of choice, you made the decision. Afterall it was only a period of a week, so you might not have done your search very thoroughly or read up to understand the system - can you believe I have frens who are unaware of sch banding and only choose sch based on COP? This is esp. for cases whereby you were caught off-guard with unexpected results. After a month of talking to frens, relatives, colleagues, etc., you suddenly change your mind. That's why there are people who are asking about appealing to 2nd or 3rd choice schs now.

To all those out there taking PSLE next or following years, do your sch choices after your PSLE paper, before your results come out. I learn from a ksp parent (25-hr maid), she suggests doing a COP range (eg. 220-225, 226-230, etc.) and list out the schs of choice within that range taking into consideration banding, distance, CCA, etc. and research on those schs. I did that and though I still need to do some thinking about how to rank the choices, it is much easier. Moreover, I was able to help some frens with suggestions of schs when they were unprepared and caught off-guard.

That will be more or less same situation as opted a DSA place and change your mind later.
      No ?

Agree[/quote]Maybe DSA you have more time to consider as firstly, you choose the school(s) to apply for DSA, then when the offer(s) comes along, you still have >1 month to consider and accept. In the case of S1 posting, some parents / kids are caught off-guard by their results, and started scrambling to find the \"right\" school within the COP range all to be settled within a week, not to mention sometimes having to deal with emotional state of mind within that period too.

After PSLE, there is nearly 2 months before results are out. Why not use this time to get prepared? That's why I suggest doing a list of school choices based on different COP range, regardless of what COP you think your kid might get. Discuss with your kid the list and get some agreement.

In the case of any change in circumstances, in whatever state of mind you are, you are at least prepared with a list of schools, and you just have to rank them according to your preference. Along the way, you and your kid can also research on the schools and have a better idea. Some people may think this is a waste of effort as their kid usually fall within certain T-score range, but when the unforseen hits you (and I have a few frens who suffered that this year), and you are dealing with your and your kid's emotion and expectation, this will come in really handy.

Someone I know got in through appeal last year; t-score of 235.
Apparently, both his father and grandfather were old boys.

Just put in the appeal after posting results out on Wed. It's ok to try and see how it is.
